Martial or Zaha. I really cant believe it has come to one of these two or bust. Aside from the fact we should all be loosing our panties over no new CM rather then a WF i just dont get how our scouts cant find another option. Both those two we know are going to be overpriced because of the league they play in. Aside from the fact nether club wants to sell. I just don't get how we cant find more viable options in Europe. Herc alludes to 1 other that has troublesome agents but he is a not as big a target as Zaha. This is all a bit of a mess, im hardly surprised tho.

I need some washing powder and i dont care what it costs!!!
I don't care if its cheaper down the road, the extra 20 minutes on the line will make all the difference in the long run and more than compensate for the lack of dinner on the table!!

I support a football team to watch them play football, not celebrate how well organised and prudent their financial management is.

It amazes me how thin people think the line is between screwing every last cent out of a deal and complete bankruptcy.

If we overspend by paying £65m for Zaha I won't care if we get criticised for the fee. I'll be excited to have a new attacking option and for the manager being backed.

Liverpool fans have banged on about net spend as much as us in recent years yet they are dancing in the streets after almost doubling the world record for a goalkeeper.

Problem is people can't detach the frustration, with wanting to be able to sign people like Zaha for stupid money. People's genuine and justified frustration is resulting in desperation to spend stupid money on players who'll bring little to the table.

All decent players cost stupid money, not paying stupid money is buying deadwood and throwing money down the drain! Levy is fast approaching a brick wall with his transfer antics and he needs to seriously think about what he's doing, or else we could go downhill pretty quickly!

Maybe not, but you'll no doubt be one of the first on the bandwagon of how shit he is after a couple of bad games and what a huge waste of money he was and how we overpaid when he doesnt immediately hit the ground running...

People clamber for a big money signing, for the sake of making a signing... That can get you Sissoko'd!!

Hope we’ve put as much work into pulisic as we seemingly have with martial and zaha. Breezer is right of course but now more than ever it’s hard to stay positive when your rivals are spending like no tomorrow.

Great news on Sonny. For those suggesting it was delayed for PR I'm not quite sure, seems he only returned yesterday so makes sense that the announcement followed shortly after.

Levy has done a great job getting us to where we are now but like you said he needs to change his methods/tactics for us to move on, can’t have a steady the ship mentality forever...certainly not at the top level where we are now.

You all laugh at DL but some of you are obsessed with the amount of money a transfer will cost! Give it a rest!
Other clubs don't seem to have a problem. Not having that excuse anymore. Nothing to do with you btw

Will you care if it means we then can't afford a central midfielder and have no replacement for Dembele? Will you understand if all we can afford is Andre Gomes?

Trix made an excellent post on overpaying for players:

I appreciate the info @Hercules, unfortunately this is certainly no surprise to me, although I did have a small hope this transfer window will be different when Poch and Kane signed their new contracts earlier this summer, I fear that with our current transfer policy it is inevitable that we will fall behind in the top six race, as we simply cannot compete or even come close to our rivals when it comes to signing top quality players or with their wage bills, how long will players like Kane, Ali and Eriksen stay while Levy keeps us in a sate of trophy-less purgatory ?, how long can Poch's relationship with Levy last with all the broken promises... This is not intended to be a moaning post but instead a reality check, and while I am very grateful for the fantastic new stadium and our trio of top three finishes, I am very concerned and frustrated with Levy's prudent stance in this transfer window. FTR I will be absolutely delighted beyond any doubt if I am proved wrong, over to you Mr Levy...TO DARE IS TO DO.

We picked up one of the best defenders in world football for our record fee last summer. Not every expensive signing is going to be a Sissoko.

And thanks for telling me how I'll react to a players bad form without even knowing me (y)

Aston Villa agree with you :cautious:

Other clubs aren't paying for a brand new stadium while also staying within their budget.

If that's where we're at then Levy may as well employ Wenger when Poch decides we're not brave enough.

IMHO we are a little bit victims of our own success. I think it was said few times that Levy and company wanted CL football after moving to new stadium. Stadium isn't finished and we're in CL third year in a row. I think Levy is still holding to buisness/financial plan in which we don't need to make top top transfers. Because only top players will make us stronger.

I know that CL give us a lot of money that we maybe weren't expecting so we should be able to buy players, but on the other hand we had to massively increased our wage bill to keep our best players. Also from what we know, stadium costs have also increased (because of brexit for example). Maybe this CL money were vital for keeping whole project alive.

The problem is that if we don't strengthen we can not only be out of top 4 but also lose key players and Poch. That would kill us.

The positive ITK from earlier of the window could be just PR message send by the club to tie down players and Poch. I'm not saying that you ITK guys were lying to us, I guess that was the message you received and passed.

I'm sure we will buy players but nothing special. Grelish, some defender and some N'winger/midfielder. Standard window.
