Mason and Bentaleb were the answer not so long ago. Fast forward a year and Dier and Dembele will be up for sale and nobody will bat an eyelid as we'll have other new shiny toys to play with :(

I think it's a sign of progression. Even last year, the balance between Mason and Bentaleb wasn't right. We shifted a lot of goals last year. Dier and Dembele are clearly a big upgrade on both players.

Loan could be a good move for Bentaleb, give him one more chance. Or maybe one of buy-backs that Barca-Real have made famous. I think he's got more potential as Dembele backup than Mason or Carroll. Wouldn't like to give up just yet, but Palace isn't too harmless a destination if Poch deems him surplus. If 2/3 of this seasons backups go it really does suggest we may even get 2 CMs in.

Main thing though is not to sell Kane to them, Pards would have them top 4 with him in their team apparently

If they were the answer, then I would be curious to learn what the question was.

I'd be very disappointed if we sold Bentaleb but if it was a loan to Palace till Christmas then that could be a good move for all involved.

Progress over loyalty I guess. Two way street though and we've been down the other way too many times and cried foul.

If we sell Mason, Carroll and Bentaleb*, how much are we at risk of meeting the homegrown quota?

*not sure he counts as one.
I wouldn't worry about that. Especially when we have Winks, Onomah, Pritchard etc

If you look at Mason, for instance, is it fair to keep playing him? He's getting booed at WHL and abused on twitter. Keeping him may hamper performances, results and therefore, impede our chances of keeping players we want to retain. Of course, I see your point about expecting loyalty. I personally find it, reluctantly, acceptable if a player moved to Real to progress themselves. It's the manner they go about it which needs to be done respectfully and I hope we show them that same grace.

I wouldn't sell Bentaleb unless there are genuinely problems with his attitude. If that is the case though, he'll be going somewhere bigger than Palace, that's for sure.

Shameful if Spurs fans are booing Mason.

Collectively known as '2017's Outgoings'.
You are gloomy this afternoon.
I think at least one of Carroll, Mason, Bentaleb must go. That's not a symptom of lack of loyalty or failed strategy or short sightedness. By golly, Carroll & Mason should prove that loyalty is rewarded, but of course only to a certain point. They also have to be good footballers. We have to sell players who are no longer a fit. It's just a part of the game.

We can't just sell players because some of our fans are ****s!

With no Europa League, I am not sure such players are best served being at WHL next year. I'd prefer they were loaned out somewhere where they'd get games. Pritchard perhaps the only exception as he has done the loan rounds at at 22 (I think?) needs to settle somewhere.
