After 3 points out of 12 (3 draws and 1 loss), Spurs went to Sunderland for the 5th game of the PL Season in mid-September 2015. It was 0-0 and then, near the end, Ryan Mason scored and we won 1-0 and our season was up and running. Mason hurt himself scoring that goal and was out for a long time.

npearl4spurs: Beat me to it !

Well said. Plus he started the whole move himself and it was a superb team goal

The problem is, how do players show form when not being selected regularly? Form is something that players grow into, not something they show When they get chucked hoc games. Then when they aren't brilliant straight away everyone says "if only they could show the form they showed last year" but they showed that form last year because they were getting picked every week, and thus were able to grow "form".
True dat.
We will have a lot of games at a high level next year - CL, Prem, cups - if we push for the quality at each opportunity there is the chance to ensure opportunities to develop the form. Need to avoid it seeming like A team and B team though!

Getting rid of Son would be slightly odd, even though I'm at odds to how good he actually is. I do believe a full preseason will benefit him, so I'm pleased to hear the rumour quashed. I thought Sherwood was mad to bring on Bentaleb against Southampton, but I was proven comprehensively wrong. He has shown he has the quality, but if there is an attitude problem, then goodbye and good luck. Tommy and Mason on the other hand have yet to show anything that suggests in my mind they will ever be a starter for a top 6 club, and should be sold so their careers can prosper elsewhere whilst we move on to better things. Selling them would not give out the wrong message to our academy players in the slightest, if there is one thing we are doing is giving our youngsters a chance.

Bolasie plus Dann for Bentaleb would be a good deal if Palace serious about Bentaleb

Bolasie would be great for us and we would have good cover in Dann, and he scores a fair few goals too

Are we still debating Mason?

If we had Mason and Bentaleb on the form they showed last season, it would be like signing two new midfielders to cover for the first choices - great. If they are not going to get back to that form, we need to consider buying others. Either way, slating and ripping them apart without having all the facts is hardly productive - particularly in an ITK thread.
Hold on, didn't you see that pass at old Trafford.....

I here you. I'd love for modern football to be less ... modern. But it's a very unemotional sport these days, probably serving money laundry better than the hearts of the fans.
Exactly. People that I know that work deep within footballing world always refer to football as 'the business'. It ain't what it was..

Why not take the money and spend it on players who would actually improve us instead?

Herts - American Airlines
JJ - Virgin
Trix - Ryan Air
Grey Fox - Easy Jet

Edit: in no way is this intended to represent the quality of itk given in some sort of hierarchical order.
Not loving the Virgin analogy...;)

Loyalty v Ruthlessness.

I suspect selling all of Carroll, Mason and Bentaleb in one summer would give out the wrong message to our team, our academy and even our transfer targets.
Not sure about the last bit. 25 man squad. Say 3 new in and 2 new adults from the academy each year. That means 5 must also go each year.

I think with Bentaleb it completely depends on his relationship with Poch. We've all heard rumours of issues with Bentaleb but nothing concrete and his lack of appearances could be just as easily explained through injuries as it could through any alleged 'attitude' problems.

Personally I'm not convinced that any of Carroll, Mason or Bentaleb are of the required level if we want to push on next season, but it's also unrealistic to expect a complete overhaul in that area, so I'd expect at least one of them to stay.
Weren't a few big continental clubs interested in Bentaleb last year?

Yep, Dann scores a fair few goals. Exactly as many as Bolasie did. Yep the attacker you're suggesting managed to muster the same amount of goals as Crystal Palace's CB. People criticize Lamela's finishing and he scores as much as Bolasie (and assists way more).

Bolasie is much better than lamela in the final third. And is so much quicker.... Doesn't press as much but I like the guy. Lamela gets the ball with 2 guys in front of him you just know he will fall into one of them. Bolasie will trouble them. Lamela can see a blind pass that B won't.. Different options is what we need imo.

There is literally no evidence to support this. None. Unless being good in the final third means beating a player and then putting the ball in row z. Which happens almost every single time Bolasie touches the ball. He is an atrocious player and there has been no ITK on him as a potential signing (thank fucking christ) so not a player to be wasting bandwidth in this thread discussing.
