Herc's update confirms what I have been thinking the past few months. He had stated we did "great business" and was constantly optimistic that this window was going to be different. The tone changed slowly however and I along with many here figured that it had to be because Levy could not change his spots.

I think our main concern should be with how Poch is handling this and if he is upset. Most ITK seemed to say that when Poch signed his extension, he was given "promises" and it certainly sounds like Levy has either not backed those promises or thought he could get away with being cute again and now is screwed. Would love to know what Poch is thinking right now.

This must be him being a twat, sorry “cute” with our outgoings

I think he has done a great job, I have more hope than anything that as a business man he must know to fuck this up is gambling with the short term future of our club

On the other hand, he might be too stubborn to do any different

When Herc provides a negative update you know shit ain't good.

Well we can all lose it again or relax and wait to see what transpires over next week.

We bought players in the past for reasons - good or bad. I don’t think we are unique in having our share of ‘stiffs’. Maybe having to suck it up for once isn’t a bad thing if we have been too cute in the past.

Let’s see how this pans out before we lose it.

The way I see it now, we've completely fucked this window.

Clearly Levy isn't going to pay out for players unless we get big fees for Alderweireld, Dembele etc and there probably won't be any movement there until after our transfer window closes. Can't see United meeting the asking price we want for Toby and I doubt anyone will offer more than £20m for Dembele.

We simply have to keep Alderweirled and Dembele for another season, add Jack Grealish and just hope for the best. I expect nothing else from us.
Dear God I hope not. We seem to at least be going after in comings, with Zaha, not sure who else although Rebrab is confident about a CM.

Levy is probably salivating about the buyout clause in poch's contract, doesn't seem to care for progress. Poch achieved what he has despite of Levy not because of him.

Mate, Herc more or less just confirmed Ali Z's info and said unless we start shifting some players - nobody but Grealish is coming in!

Waiting for outgoings before incomings is flawed, IMO. We need to get our incomings done by 9 August but the rest of Europe (i.e. our potential buyers) are operating on a different timescale 3 weeks later.

The Premier League clubs have shot themselves in the foot by closing the transfer window earlier than the rest of Europe.

Let’s get something straight here. HY is not wrong. But now the club are leaking through their connections. As far as I know with more information which I dear not share, this is ALL DL’s fault! I have no agenda against him. But his games of bluff and dear is backfiring. And I warned about this when those were championing early TW closure, and believing that we (EPL) could call the shots to buying clubs-we can’t!

There is no way we will put 6/7 players in sales I’m next 2 weeks! Absolutely no way! So from HY’s info then, we are fkd!

We have to complete our incomings, and do loans, and whatever ‘risks’ are needed, they have to apply. The club bought this upon themselves, by trying to be too cute.

Very sorry; that happens to be the truth and the issue.
Sometimes supporting Spurs is like standing behind an angry donkey, tackle dangling at hoof height and a branding iron in one hand. Then taking the mother of all thwacks as the branding iron- in this image a metaphor for hope- makes contact with donkey hide, again and again

So we need to sell to buy, because of wages, as opposed to player valuations?

Why don't we just set the value for these players at an amount where we can get them out the door?

That is easy to say but who will pay these players wages ? The clubs taking on these players will want us to pay a large chunk of the wages so we have in effect achieved nothing on the reducing the wages bill front.

Am I missing something where HY said something, Dova's post was from Ali Z?

Levy has never worked like that, he is going to have to work some serious magic with this situation. We are being bitten for poor choices in previous windows.

Totally agree with you mate

It's going to be very interesting to see how this plays out

Hadn’t realised we were taking all ITK as hard fact. Thought we were meant to apply a pinch of salt?

Well, in my opinion, Herc's updates are enough to see that people have been misled this window. The tone of the updates have gradually got duller and duller to a point now where our most optimistic poster for ITK (Herc) is feeling pretty pessimistic about the window as a whole.

All subjective with how you take and interpret the ITK, but I think I've heard enough this window and seen enough from Levy over the years to make a judgement at this stage.
