There are a few parts of this that could be interpreted to mean Sergej Milinkovic-Savic.

The etymology of 'Sergej' is Latin, and in Latin it apparently means shepherd (as well as protector, attendant).

'M' and 'S' are capitalised, seemingly giving them importance. Obviously they provide the initials for Milinkovic-Savic. Also relating to his name is that 'double-cryptic' is hyphenated when it shouldn't be, perhaps referencing the hyphen in his surname.

Somewhat more tenuously (if the above isn't tenuous enough), and 'ruminate on' being established as an anagram for numeration, there are the same amount of letters after that anagram and before the hyphen (so between the end of 'on' and the hyphen) as there is in Milinkovic. After the hyphen and before the coma is obviously the word 'cryptic,' which clearly doesn't have the same number of letters as 'Savic,' but if you remove the number of letters in 'Savic' from 'cryptic,' perhaps interestingly it leaves two letters, 'ic' which both present at the end of both his family names.

How?...I mean, just how?

Well done.

I have absolutely no idea if this is the answer or even close but I want it to be, not just because I like the player, but because that is impressive work.

Take a look at "our son Matt" = Mats on Tour - we will get de ligt done in time for US tour...

ETA - I can get Timo Horn for "he's a shepherd" but that does not make sense in light of Vorm's extension. Horn is Keeper for Billy Goats...

My first thought was Bale and Modric but for no other reason than i have newly optimistic vibe going today and the cryptic sounded bible esque. So Modric = our beautiful sheep and Matt = our prodigal son = Bale

Don't quite see how you can put Modric and beautiful in the same sentence.:sneaky:

@Archibald&Crooks @Rob these make my day.

This is prob way off. My guess is with the whole bible verse about one going astray (taking this as Toby), and with Matt being the Shepherd, I feel like this has to do with us finding Toby’s replacement in De Ligt and maybe being close to a deal. Ruminate could be related to us going back to Ajax for another CB, and maybe selling Toby someone that we’ve worked with previously.

Thinking less is more. The other thing I’m working with is 18:12, but that’s also prob off the mark.

Could add to this that "our son" might be a reference to the fact that he has both parents' surnames.

Ruminate on this double-cryptic, look at our son Matt, he's a Shepherd

2 parts...

Look at our Son
-Look at Sonny = Winger
Matt, he's a Shepherd
-Matthijs de Ligt is Matt. He's a a Shepherd meaning he's guiding someone with him.

Combining those, we're looking to do a double deal for De Ligt and Ziyech (winger who's been linked with a move away and is highly rated).

This also ties in with the Play it again, Sam cryptic as that's a phrase from Casablanca, which is set in Morocco (Ziyech is Moroccan)
