Is it really knee-jerk considering how often it appears the club has failed in the market though? I can't honestly believe that he's happy with the state of the squad currently, it makes no sense.

The only thing I can think is he's reluctant to get someone in this window as they would have to hit the ground running and that's always a risk...or the targets he's been given that are attainable aren't at the level he'd like.
Or he’s keeping his targets free so he can sign them for Man Utd...

Would they? Seems to me the £100mil has made little difference

So what we can take from that is it's only worth spending if it improves the side. Hence why Poch is only interested in players he believes will do that.

I must say Trix you speak so much common sense, keep up the good work mate.

Let's be honest, we are going to stand pat until the scenario eventually arrives when we are looking to replace Messrs Eriksen, Alderweireld et al with cheaper alternatives rather than further supplementing a great squad to kick on in the latter stages of competitions.

Great...

Where is this gleaming £100m (last tw £150m) ITK actually coming from?

The fact that Levy and Poch get along and communicate doesn't necessarily mean they're always in agreement. There's an infinite number of matters they may or may not see eye to eye on. The only thing that can be said about either of them in this regard without actually having first hand experience is that they both appear to be consummate professionals. If Poch is still here next season then we'll all be in a better position to judge from afar.

Poch just now "It's so clear. I am so open to looking to improve. I was open in the summer and I am open now, but the reality is the difficulty in bringing in someone who can help or improve us. We'll see what happens."

Fingers crossed the club and Poch can find 1-2 players they can all agree on by the end of the month.

I am so confused, ITK and all of BSoDL are saying that the problem is Poch and he is being stubborn and wants to focus on youth and was happy with zero signings in the summer etc and now the man himself is saying he is and was open to improving the squad/team.

Good on Poch for coming out and saying it as it is. The ball is in the clubs court.

The facetiousness from those desperate to bury their heads in the sand is slightly nauseating. Let’s see how much you lot are sneering and guffawing to one another if we go into the new stadium next year without champions league football, Eriksen, Toby, Dembele and whoever else.

Just because you are happy to live in a dream world where nothing is going wrong - it doesn’t mean you’re a better fan than those of us who are capable of critiquing without rose-tinted specs on.
To be fair we've been hearing every window from fans and pundits alike that we won't compete and teams will go past is into top four unless we buy big etc etc, and yet here we still are. Do I think we need players? Yes but I think Poch has earned the right to not buy if he thinks that's what's best. The players being touted around(available) are imo good players and could improve us, but how we fans see them is clearly not in the same light as Poch does. Personally I'd rather just get one quality player in now and worry about the Summer budget when it happens unfortunately unless things change it's not going to happen this window.

The problem isn't strictly Poch, it's improving our side in his eyes with the budget we have. He knows it's not easy hence no signings at all in the last 12 months.

Or we are just realists and understand it's not a game of football manager where we can go get whoever we want. All those scenarios (bar Dembele) there haven't happened, quite the contrary, we've gone from bottom half, to top half, to 6th best, to 3rd best, establishing ourselves for set periods each time.

That last push to take us to the top is arguably harder than any other, yet despite our continued progress, we keep improving.

There's a difference between being happy with the status quo and being a realist but wanting more. For the record, I think we will lose Eriksen and Toby and we will find it hard replacing them, but I am patient, can see the bigger picture and appreciate it's a journey that isn't over yet.

I'm curious as to whether we will have double the budget in the summer because we didn't spend but that's probably a simplistic outlook to take. I think it's unlikely we will get anybody in this window and whilst I'd rather us go big guns on 1 quality player, I want to see the youth players take this opportunity given by Poch, there's 5 players who could grab the brass ring and that's KWP, Skipp, Onomah, Sterling and Parrott. If we have the ability to sign top players then great but I'm pleased the club isn't panic buying shitters who would block these players paths.

The bold text is exactly the sort of inane stuff I’m talking about. “If you don’t follow my way of thinking, you must think the real world is like FM”. It’s patronising nonsense.

Liverpool wanted Keita, Van Dijk, Fabinho, Salah, Firmino, Mane - they went out and got them all - now look at them.

I’m sure all of us want to push on, but doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results is the definition of insanity.
