I could see 5 coming in - but that would include a youngster or two for the future.

So far we've seen squad depth with an alternative striker in Janssen and an alternative DM in Wanyama and it's still in the balance for the winger we know of, not sure we will see any more prominent players.

If we are talking 4 or 5, which goes against all the talk both from club and ITK's, then there must have been a change of plan. It is now about bringing in players that are better than what we have got in the main team. This means a big spend to bring in marquee players circa £100m. Otherwise we would stick with what we have got surely? I have to question the numbers. It just doesn't add up. Unless Harry's off:eek:

There's a number of young players who are a cut above what we've already got and potentially affordable. At moment we have depth is most positions but whereas we have numbers, we lack quality. It's especially alarming when our youth players look better than the senior squad players currently standing in their way. We will be much better off having the 1st team regulars with another 1-2 snapping at their heels and 1-2 hot youth team prospects eager to get some game time... than instead, having to rely on the likes of Carroll, Mason, Chadli etc

Yes spot on we cant keep Just buying young players we also need 1/2 that are about to hit or at their peak.
Having said that its great to see our young players being given game time and being trusted, not many coaches trust in their youngsters enough.

All conjecture of course but I'd expect (like) a really experienced CL player. Might be an 'elder statesman', but someone who's been there before. We've done it in the past and just maybe we'll do it again. A manager on the pitch. Expect might mean want though. There's room in the squad. Someone who wouldn't expect to play most games.

Calm down pal.

1. As much as we love our wonderful ITKs, I'm pretty sure Pochettino is where we should draw the line for superior information. Unless he starts playing media games, which at this point would contradict all previous behavior.

2. I fail to see how you've extrapolated "this means a big spend to bring in marquee players" from Poch just saying there will be more activity.

3. No chance in hell that Harry is off

4. We know we have a number of players that Poch isn't impressed with, thus, there would be an opportunity for new blood depending on their outs

But I know the fear man, it's so well planned out, stable and under control that compared to what we're used to it almost seems impossibly boring now.

Right now we know the following are likely off, and I'll assign conservative values to them: Fazio 3m, Bentaleb 10m, Pritchard 6m, N'Jie 7m, and Townsend 13m.

We have already purchased or are likely to purchase: Wanyama 11m, Janssen 17m, and N'Koudou 10m.

So even conservatively, we would've only spent 5m.

Pretty sure the 4-5 includes those already bought. So (including GKN) that means 1 or 2 more.

Sorry, but I don't believe in your point 3 about Harry. I consider myself a realist. If an offer to the player or club that comes in that really can't be turned down then I think everyone will listen. No one on here knows first hand what Poch thinks about the player and his worth. Another mad offer, whilst his star is still rising may well be considered. Please don't be too sentimental.

I can't believe how cynical this forum is, we have just got information from the man himself and people are going hmmmmmmm did he meant that though? Just take it for what he said and be a bit excited at the possibilities.
You're new around here, aren't you?

We sold townsend to newcastle for £12m.

So, rhetorical question, I just wonder if the 'signing' is GKN, or like everyone else seems to, he is considering that one already done and means there will be another one?

He talks about signings "in the next few weeks", doesn't sound to me as though GKN is the last one, even if it is just poor use of pluralisation.

Although the post from JJ seems to suggest different. Who knows.
