I reckon Bentaleb is on Poch's 'uncertain/needs to buck up ideas list'. If we receive a suitable offer we'd be willing to listen, although he's not being actively forced out.

The Oz squad omission might be Poch sending out a final warning.

Hopefully, he will stay and prove himself to be a valuable member of our squad (like with Lamela last summer after the Marseille loan broke down).

Dier and Wanyama or Dier and Alli. I'm not sure why people are so surprised that Alli will be used as a CM rather than an ACM.

I'm the only one who thinks we need cover for Toby. Dier should never play there,He starts at DM and shouldn't play Cup games. Seem to be the only one worried Toby doesn't get injured all season

Seems the Coaching staff don't agree with us. I guess if CCV is showing some then we are fine, but if not then i'd bring in another CB for certain. Particularly as Fazio can be replaced.

All in all I'm a bit disappointed to hear from JJ we aren't looking to strengthen further beyond the french lad (swap for N'jie)

Still think we can upgrade Chadli & replace 2 of Carroll, Bentaleb & Mason with a l-f-l for Dembele.

CL is a huge step up for us + all the other games. Plenty of time for the kids to show what they have got.

I'd have thought the returns from the sales of Chadli, Fazio, Mason/Carroll, Bentaleb, Prichard, Yedlin etc + TV revenue is more than enough cash. Also we sold Townsend for pretty much the fee we paid for Wanyama.
I'm not suggesting world beaters. Just a more competitive squad. Arguably the above players can't step in at the same quality like Wimmer has shown he can.

I am all for scouting but to compete for EPL and UCL.... We need add quality in key position. So far I believe GKN is more for future but he is no Martial. One more like Bazoer to cover AMC and CM would add some depth.

I think Onomah is the player to replace Bentaleb in our Central Midfield. He just looks better there, and it helps that Onomah offers that extra versatility in that he can play further up the pitch. In all actuality, our central midfield is quite alright with Dembele, Dier, Wanyama, Onomah, Mason and Alli being able to play there. I obviously wanted an upgrade on Mason/Carroll (who knows what might present itself as the window rolls on), but in the end it's up to Poch.

Don't get me wrong, I like youth and small squad. Just that I don't think Caroll or Mason is right fit for CM position. I said one more quality player not a few Njie type.

Hence a higher quality replacement is important like Janssen or Wanyama.

I think we should not kid ourselves when Manure is buying the title this season. The top 4 would be tough feat let alone challenging for EPL or UCL title. I just hope with a bit more quality we can get to UCL wQtr finals and top 3. This should be our ambition.... Minimum IMO.

Look at BVB, they have to buy quality bec of their ambition. I feel the fans compromise too much and expect Poch to do miracle and Stambouli and Njie is the best case study of failed acquisition.

But we are not in the market for world beaters are we? Instead we buy emerging talent, develop it then sell them onto the bigger stage and bank the profit.

The club have indentified a policy which they aim to stick to which does not include star talent rather emerging ones.
Now as much as i would like to see top stars playing for us in their prime i realise that i have to be realistic and accept this is us under the current ownership.
I dont see the new stadium even changing things instead just gives bigger profit margins for the owners which is fair enough, as long as we stay fairly competitive and maybe a cup then that will suffice.
Can never see us ever win the league but a cup or two should keep the honours list topped up and keep the masses happy.

Could the special one that GF is mentioning be Schneiderlin? Ticks many boxes as we know he is a Pochettino favourite, potential CM spot in the squad opening up, and will only happen later in the window when Schneiderlin will know more about his position in the Man Utd squad?
