The club have indentified a policy which they aim to stick to which does not include star talent rather emerging ones.
Now as much as i would like to see top stars playing for us in their prime i realise that i have to be realistic and accept this is us under the current ownership.
I dont see the new stadium even changing things instead just gives bigger profit margins for the owners which is fair enough, as long as we stay fairly competitive and maybe a cup then that will suffice.
Can never see us ever win the league but a cup or two should keep the honours list topped up and keep the masses happy.
I couldn't see us winning the PL last year when the season started - we weren't far away!

TBF we were never really close as we was not really able to close that gap out to put pressure on leicester enough imo, but we still have a good season despite the iffy start and end of season collapse.

I agree with pragmatism, but I am not even shouting for established players but a highly regarded emerging talent which we should take a chance now. We all know the market had gone tits up but to stay within sight of CL, we need to be a bit more bold like BVB. Our revenue is very close to BVB so I don't see why we cannot afford one slightly over budget emerging star signing every year.

I am not talking even Witsel cat of players. I think we all had seen how the team got crush in Newcastle when Alli and Dembele was missing. Wanyama might give us that shield but I doubt he can make those key passes or link up to the AM effectively. This is still a missing pc bec Mason or Caroll just can't make that cut.

I just pray we get this one sorted. Dembele can't play 38 games and that is excluding CL. The team just look like duds without both. Just saying.

Well he's out of the first 4 anyway. So you're right he can't play 38 league games.

Could the special one that GF is mentioning be Schneiderlin? Ticks many boxes as we know he is a Pochettino favourite, potential CM spot in the squad opening up, and will only happen later in the window when Schneiderlin will know more about his position in the Man Utd squad?
Supposeldy when we inquired about Schneiderlin, Mourinho told us to do one in no uncertain tone.

It would,except I haven't got a name,it's a bit hush hush

A bit hush hush is the way it should be. Look what happened with Willian - and Batshuayi more recently. Great to hear that we're not just try to add somebody/anybody for the short term. We need quality additions and we should hold out for that.

Yes i get you totally which is why i say that we wont win the league because we are good upto a point, but lack the real quality to scoop the top prizes.
We will do well to finish top five and a cup thats probably our ceiling under current owners which for now is fine.

It's Kovacic... duh!
Poch was reported in the Spanish press to be a big admirer and depending on how the rest of Madrid's preseason/transfer window plays out he may find himself on the outside looking in. Not getting my hopes up but it certainly would be a bit "special."

Schneiderlin is also a good shout, if either were to come off it would certainly soften the Bentaleb blow.

Thank u for the reminder but we still got Alli.... But imagine we are goal down and we send in Mason for Wanyama to turn the game around...... Yeah, might just work kind of feeling. I probably will switch off the tv and go sleep.

Anyway, I hope we got a starting 14 to push for critical position. The pivot CM is the spine that needs one more reinforcement IMO and I rather we get a good cover for Dembele than a AM assuming we got GKN. Just hope Poch can sort this position out....

I know we will always say this but I think we are 2-3 players away. Upgrades on Fazio, Chadli and Mason needed. Not that sorry to see N'jie go..although never got a chance, what we did see from him was far from impressive, he looked very raw and was not particularly quick. I still don't get what others see in Onomah...he got a fair amount of minutes last year and I didn't see anything to suggest he was a future first teamer. He has looked far less accomplished than Bentaleb or even Livermore.

That's interesting, it sounds like it's a particular player rather than just any special player that might become available later in the window. Thanks for the info GF.

Kovacic or Pereyra would be perfect as we need another good CM now Bentaleb is going but I highly doubt we will make any more signings after GKN.

I really would be surprised if we make anymore big signings once the Nkoudou comes in. This "special" player is bound to get people speculating on here, but I jus't can't see it happening.

Tend to agree with you on this cant see us getting any special player under the tight ship we run and so will not pay any attention to it.
The team we have currently is the best we have had for a long time and its about as good as we can get within the budget allowed happy days ahead.

We also need to sell quite a few already to get the money back from the sales. Can't see us selling anymore to buy any kind of special player

I wouldn't be surprised to see something like, selling Chadli for £12m, Bentelab for £10m, Njie for loan, eventually £7m, Carroll for £5m, Fazio for £5m -leaving us roughly zero net spend at the end of the summer again.

It's just the way it's going to be for a while so we better get used to it!

I'd say it will be exactly that
