Whatever Toby said or did to upset everyone, he at least had the good sense to keep it in-house. Everything he’s said publicly has been ok.

From a pragmatic perspective it makes no sense to get rid of a world class defender who wants to stay only for us to spend just as much on a downgrade on a point of principle. Would be a huge boost if he committed to us for the next four years. We’d written it off in our heads so it would genuinely feel like a brilliant new signing.

Not sure how I’d react to this. Davi was one of my highlights of the season seeing him grow and how he performed at the World Cup, England game especially. Toby looks either mentally or physically scared from his hamstring tear. I don’t feel like Davies and Trippier are good enough in the Poch system to play as wing backs which rules out the 5 at the back. He or Davi then become rather high value assets sitting on the bench

Trippier has just got in the team of the tournament at the world cup playing in a 5 at the back!

Foyth is really Jan’s Understudy. Hopefully he will play some more games this season.

If the Toby stuff comes off then we certainly won’t need any CH’s which is excellent.

if Toby stays it would definitely be a bonus, as long as it doesn't effect Sanchez or whoever else he pissed off.

after seeing Sanchez play for Columbia on the left, i'd not be shocked to see him move over when Jan finishes

I'm locking this right now because there's no point in this thread being extended by several pages based on an ITK's opinion.

If an ITK breathes heavily whilst curling one out it doesn't have to be reported on here. Use your common sense.

Well he is hardly likely to come out and say he has acted like a tosser, is he.

OK I've cleaned it up, forget it happened and move along. Thank you
I love when you’re in the authoritarian mode. Your nice mode on this thread is just weird. Authoritarian mode means everything is right in the world.
Toby staying would really be, excuse the cliche, like a new signing.

Sexiest defender in world football, bar none.
Jan Vertonghen says hi.

I think it’s clear he wanted/wants to leave. His post WC comments were non-committal at best.

But if we can make him happy to stay, it’ll benefit everyone.

I’m not sure it’s clear at all. Given what numerous ITKs have implied, it sounds like he genuinely intended to sign a new contract but took the dirty tactics too far in negotiations, leading to his relationship with Levy/ Poch becoming untenable.

Toby staying will be a big boost. If he could regain his focus, a back 3 of Toby,Sanchez,Jan would be brilliant, which we didn't see much last season. Sanchez with one PL season under belt, Toby & Jan on either side could make us a tough defense to crack once again.
I hope he stays like ITK saying. Toby signing new deal could be best piece of business this summer window

If there is a chance Toby could stay, surely he would have to commit and sign a new contract before our window closes. If this is a possibility they will have to kiss and make up ASAP.

Very happy that we are close to getting Grealish. He’ll be quality once Poch has had a few months with him. His talent is unquestionable. Harry Maguire however? Seriously disappointed with that link. I think he’s slightly above average and he turns like the bloody QE2. We play a high line, why buy one of the slowest CB’s in the league who makes dumb runs out with the ball and can’t recover. You want a CB who can pass the ball and travel with it as a last resort. Ask yourself how does he match up to our current CB’s? He isn’t even close to the same class as Sanchez, Toby and Jan. It just screams we wont pay up for De Ligt so we are buying a player who won’t improve us instead that’s a bit cheaper. The same mistake we have made in previous windows that is now biting us in the arse. We need 1 or 2 quality players, if we don’t pay up for them will be overtaken this season. Normally I’m not worried but I’m very worried by our rivals moves while we sit on our hands
