Trix mentioned yesterday in regards to Zaha that his team didn’t put a clause in his contract (presumable for Champions League football) and that most players at smaller clubs have them. Wonder if that’s the case with Maguire?

Edit: it was Herc, not Trix

Excellent. Another unattainable target to waste our time and fail at the end of the window.

This years transfer policy has been flawless

Really don't want Maguire. Will be ridiculously expensive, and he's sooooo slow. Again, surely we can get better value elsewhere. We need to be buying players early, like Sanchez.

True, maybe there's a clause. I see no other way it happens unless he kicks up some almighty fuss but he doesn't seem the type. Though he did give an interview yesterday and said "Leicester have been unbelievable to me and I’m really happy there but I’m also an ambitious player and everyone wants to play at the top" so it seems he sees himself playing for a top team.

But that's a debate for another thread.....

At this stage with zero signings I'd take Maguire. He would strengthen our squad.
Would be a good signing but the Leicester board will see him as a 'franchise' player after the world cup. Can't see them selling.

Maguire would cost significantly north of 50m after the World Cup he’s just had

Overpriced, but at this stage if Toby’s situation is irreconcilable we need a replacement and time is against us

I think he’s an excellent defender and if we’re selling Toby then I can’t see us being able to bring in a better ready made replacement. If we got him then we’d have the spine of the England team for the next 5 years which I personally would be proud of,

I don’t see Leicester wanting to sell though, even for the mooted £50m. I think he’d have to really throw his toys out the pram to get the move and I don’t see it happening.

Why on earth would Leicester sell him to us? I like HM but buying anyone off the back of the WC is just short sighted and smacks of poor transfer strategy and/or desperation. Surely he would be over priced massively as well.

Why do we keep targeting players who are so obviously more expensive that what we're willing to pay? Zaha, Maguire, Martial etc.

Such a collosal waste of time.

Think he is a good player but will cost too much as is better on the left side of defence where we have vert
