Not at all. I'm told we have money to spend, just not on Bale. Although this wouldn't be the first Summer window where I'm hearing we are going to spend big and it doesn't equate to much in the end as far as net spend is concerned. We will just have to see what happens, but from what I hear we are setting the bar higher as far as quality is concerned than we have in the past. The overall window should be far less of a gamble as far as the pedigree of the individual incomings are concerned.

I'm taking from this we are veering away from our £10m and hope we hit the jackpot player, and more looking at serious money for an already proven top class player(s)?

The days of N'something are over!

This is good news, its sounds like we are targeting players who in theory should walk into our first 11, rather than decent squad players.

We need to get away from the mentality of "We dont need XXX because we have XXX" and "We just need a back up for XXX"

Thanks Trix, i certainly wasnt saying your info wasnt bang on, would tend to agree with your sentiments that this isnt the first window that we have said we are going to spend big, and like you am waiting to see how it pans out

I would N'love it if we sign some N’awesome players and I'm sure we will but I'm also sure the club will keep numbers very close to chest to avoid alerting selling clubs to hold out for more. Particularly this season when we would like to get business done before the WC. (Sometimes it's unavoidable of course such as the summer we sold Bale)

So I tend to believe ITK on players more than budgets

You can't possibly know that we'll definitely spend £150m, or that we'll sign certain players, or that it'll 'be alright' at this stage.
That’s not balanced, it’s throwing shade on Val and Herc’s info
Herc stated the £150m, Val that it’ll be alright.

“You can’t possibly know...” Uh, yes they can. Herc’s accuracy has been invaluable in recent windows and Val has been doling out snippets and reassurance since the old 606 days.

You’re entitled to disbelieve the info (pinch of salt, and all that) but don’t state that they “can’t” know what’s happening and/or options being discussed.

Their knowledge is of that time. Some of it might not happen, as things can change, but they are just, thankfully, informing us what they've been told/found out at the time they post it.
ALL in good faith.

Exactly what I meant. Wasn't doubting the quality or value of their information one bit - I was simply saying that no-one can say with certainty what will happen in the future, if it hasn't yet happened. All anyone can do is assess the situation as it is now to the best of their existing knowledge, and predict what will happen in future. Not knocking anyone buddy.

Wasn't aimed at you or anyone in particular, just saying........ as, if new to these threads, some may not realise where/how ITK's get their info.

Thanks Trix, the last sentence is absolute music to my ears. For too many years we have been trying to buy backup players to what we already have and that is an absolute disaster waiting to happen (and in a fair few cases, did happen).

We desperately need a centre midfielder who can play short and long at a decent tempo right now so hopefully we make a signing of that ilk.

Toby, Wanyama, Sanchez all arrived and walked straight into the starting XI.

I hope this signals the end of buying average squad players where turning to the academy would be just as viable if not better.

I thought Sanchez took some bedding in. It was generally Toby and Jan

Sanchez started the first game he was available in against Everton, and played pretty much every game thereafter. We started the season playing with a three remember.
