Just now sharing my own views. I rate Lgit very highly, but not at 60m. 50m yes. I think Foyth’s value would of been similar had he been at Ajax. I think he is going to be a very special talent.

Our ceiling per player should be 50m, and think with all the names I am hearing we are interested in, that is possible. A risky gem at the age off 22 is not the risks we took before, as this particular one out of two players has proven on a bigger stage (hint).

We have to be smart, and take calculated risks on the right profile players. If Fulham are not promoted, I believe our first signing is possibly to be Sess. What I don’t want us to do is ‘F’ off Poch, going into August, with a few days (less than I think from memory 9 days). From what I know, the manager does not want to be bedding in say 3-4 players in August. My opinion is 2 at best, he doesn’t mind.

The above is my educated opinion, and why we have to watch how this pans out.
Always appreciate your input.

When you get to £50M or £60M, I don't think that last £10M makes much difference...its crazy money either way. But, if Poch wants a back-3, then we could have one of the best over the next 5-7 years: de Ligt, Sanchez and Foyth - admittedly finding a LF CB to play on the left would be preferable.

I think de Ligt is a once-a-generation type player - came up through Ajax as a midfielder, grew into a CB - that kind of technical skill in a CB is priceless - add in his maturity, and mental make-up, I think if we can get him, we have to make every effort.

He's talking about Martial. 22 and proven on a bigger stage i.e. PL

Not sure. Herc has openly stated that we're interested in Martial in earlier ITK. He's also talked about an 'under the radar' signing if Martial doesn't happen. I'm assuming it's the latter that he's referring to now. Hence all the cloak and dagger.

Exactly- we have Foyth. Would rather spend the money elsewhere in Ajax- Frankie de Jong

Thanks for the clarification Hercules. I hope Julian Weigl is the 22 year old proved on a bigger stage, Germany and a CM and has been linked to PSG for £50million. Looks like it will be a an exciting summer, World Cup and a big transfer window!

Don't want to get embroiled in the guessing games as we'll all end up getting banned but think herc is talking about the 2 from germany as he's constantly talked about them as a pair (1 of 2, etc). Being 22 doesn't leave many choices so i'll leave it at that.

Agree with the other posts though that de ligt does appear to be a once in a generation player and if we have any chance of getting him we should exercise it. If you have a chance to sign genuine talent you should take it.

Given the reported fees we’re willing to pay I’m surprised we’re not targeting Spanish and Portuguese based players as their once extortionate buy out clauses are now circa the going rate... meaning we can potentially get decent players without paying the going rate + what ever clubs decide to add on.

Probably because that pisses off those clubs a lot and they have ungodly amounts of money to return the favor in kind and unsettle some of our squad who might fancy a move there.

I think the docs were leaked and were pretty complex, starting around £30m but had/have loads of £10m add ons for apps/goals/cl stuff.

What will affect him (Martial, as still ITK linked also) moving (potentially to us) and the fee is the fee itself - I think Monaco get more money based on how much he's sold for. He probably stands Utd at £60-70m but it could go up to £100m if he gets sold. It's probably out there on Google, and one of the things that would likely make any deal a PITA, unless we do a Vorm-style px

Can probably find the contract pdf on footballleaks but a summary is below.... Monaco will make capital gains if Martial is sold for over £45m

If Martial does not materialise, there is an under the radar player abroad at same age for under 20m, by some stretch. And this one would be a very good signing.

.

This bit is a tad worrying. We rarely have much success with our backup bargain deals when our first choice targets fall through. Might be cynical, but really hope the Martial deal materialise :ninja:

£70M is absolutely insane for an unproven teenager.

Sad times.

Thanks Herc for the ITK...I'm very excited about our German prospects. There's quality in those leagues, at reasonable prices.

There is also quality in the Dutch league...Jan, Toby, Davison. We paid £42 million for Davison and nobody knew much about him, look at him now. How have we missed all that German quality at reasonable prices?

We should leave De Ligt well alone at that price. I want us to show ambition but you have to be sensible as well. You wouldn’t see the likes of Juve, Bayern or Athletico spending anywhere near £70 mill on a teenage centre back from a shit league.

There has to be better value out there.

A lot of clubs appear to be holding out for super fees..... It'll be interesting later in the window seeing these teams panic if they don't get those fees.

You do know Levy is our chairman right?

Wanyama 15m? - At least £35

Even the poor players like Sissoko. Llorente and NKoudou we will get altogether £45m + in todays market.

There’s no way we get all of our money back on Llorente, NKoudou will be similar to Njie, don’t recall making much of a profit there, but we’ll see - I hope you’re right and I’m wrong

He's arguably the best young CB in world football.

Unfortunately around £70m is the going rate nowadays for 'wonderkids' - If he has a good season then that value will almost double in a year.

United payed £26m for Wayne Rooney in 2004 - a massive transfer fee for a teenage prodigy at that time.

When you take into consideration the ridiculous inflation within the market in the last couple of seasons - I'm not surprised you're looking at £60-70m for the likes of De Ligt and Sessengon. When it comes to teenage prodigies, they are top of the pile.
