First message here after spying now and again for a few weeks. The daily ITK has certainly offered an interesting respite to say the least, and it is all appreciated immensely.

From what it seems, though of course this is all speculative, it looks like we may well be spending between 150-200, though that might depend somewhat on the players we can shift and what price we eventually get for them. If we are looking to sign four players say, that gives an average of around 40-50 per player, which seems decent. This leaves wriggle room for a 70mill player, though one of the other players would then have to be a 20-30 bargain. Or even two 70mill approx. players, though both the others players would then have to be sneaky bargains. It is interesting either way, even if I fear some of the players we may have assumed were safe 40-50 range players are now slipping out of our reach and might be forcing us to re-evaluate. This is the usual situation basically, but perhaps on a grander scale. In regards to Bale, I would not be surprised if there is additional money set aside for a potential return, considering it might even financially benefit us, and that this always has been the case. That might explain why there has been certain rumblings on that front and these rumblings appear to go against any supposed budget, but I don’t suspect this will become an eventuality.

Hopefully it all pans out well, and we can come out winning, without sacrificing too many players who have/will meaningfully contribute to the success of the squad.

Just sieved through 8 pages of an ITK thread to read some dodgy team selections, people getting told umpteen times that we won’t spend 70m on a CB and guesses on a CM we’ve not been linked with. 10 mins of toilet time I won’t get back.. lovely

What have things come to when 20-30 million is considered bargain money.

Indeed, though I think if the exact scenario played out that I was talking about, at least one of those bargains might have to be under twenty. And it is all relative of course. Though yeah, it's all bonkers.

I think de Ligt is a once-a-generation type player - came up through Ajax as a midfielder, grew into a CB - that kind of technical skill in a CB is priceless - add in his maturity, and mental make-up, I think if we can get him, we have to make every effort.

I think that's how Ajax bring through most of their centre backs. Pretty sure Toby was a MF.

The pre-window optimism of a few weeks ago was always going to give way, at some point, to the horrible, looming reality of Spurs having to actually conclude deals for top players in the current market.

So I see that moment is here...

And I for one welcome our new overlord.

70m is a lot but that's the way the market is now. It must depend on what we get for player sales. If we get an over inflated price for selling players then it wont seem so bad.
