I open the bid with:
- Own bedroom,
- Competitive allowance
- 2 smaller Brothers who are keen on football
- At least one cooked meal a day

In all seriousness though I get the feeling this one is going to drag, especially with the WC.

If Utd won't even pay what he wants then I agree, having a stormer at the WC is his best bet.

Maybe what @Trix said about the WC messing with things he meant outgoings possibly even more than incomings?

I guess looking back he didn't do Madrid or Southampton any favours, always looking for the main chance maybe.
I suspect he and his representatives believed all the hype about him and thought they could make a killing.
I understand why the club might not want to keep him now, there comes a point where you move on from what you really want and by the time what you want gives you a second chance you realise you have already found something you want more.

Herc hadn't realised we already sold njie
I did have to double check that I hadn't imagined the Njie deal being made permanent before asking. I would definitely be surprised if Nkoudou is still here in August.

I was thinking this as well. Maybe he and his team have doing this to his previous teams too. Would explain some things.

Interesting info if true that Toby and his agent/dad have priced him out and burnt bridges. I guess Levy is all smurky and salty right now :D

If true that he’s not got the offers coming in that he expected, i’d be very disappointed if we weren’t looking to build bridges and get him tied down to us. Players of his quality are not disposable and his public behaviour has been very controlled and perfectly acceptable.

I wonder why he played at the end of the season then
Because we didn't have a better alternative then, but we will by next season?

I'd take him back into the fold, personally, be grown-up up about it. But I can see why Poch & Levy would be keen to set an example rather than a precedent. Shame.

If we are trying to get our business done before the world cup, there's only 3 weeks (June 14). Per ITK, I hope we see a few of the big contract renewals being announced (meaning Poch is happy) and an incoming or two.

Also interesting to note that the window ending August 9 now provides the following windows:
-56 days from the start of the world cup
-42 days from the end of the group stages
-37 days from the end of the round of 16
-33 days from the end of the quarter finals
-29 days from the end of the semi finals
-25 days from the end of the final

If Poch wants players to be settled before the season, there honestly is very, very little time this summer.

I am picturing Levy sweating profusely as he was expecting to fund Poch's transfer activities by extorting other teams into overpaying for players like Toby...

Hate to say it because he's an excellent player when he's fit and given the choice I'd rather keep him than lose him but there's no getting away from the fact that Toby is quite the mercenary. #whatgoesaroundcomesaround

Players chosen for the World Cup have no chance of being ‘settled’ before the season starts. They’ll all be off on their holidays for a start.

Not to sound like an Oracle but I always knew it would end badly with Toby. Even on his first season. After the way he fucked over Southampton I just knew he'd shaft us as soon as he had the opportunity to join a bigger club. That clause he put in to his contract just showed his game plan was always max 3 years at spurs and then one last huge pay day contract.

No surprises he's fucked us around like he did to Southampton.

On reflection i dont think we've done badly out of the whole deal, we've had three years out of a world class defender for £11m, which we'll get back and then some.
Its not ended ideally though.
