Good moaning ITK-lings, we hope you all had a good weekend and are suitably recharged for the coming week?

I didnlt have a bad weekend........Friday night I was at a party with my wife and after a couple of drinks she was a bit the worse for wear. A bloke walked up and said to me, 'She's a lightweight.'

I said, 'Actually mate she can usually handle her drink.'

He replied, 'No, I was just thinking with a face as ugly as that she must do a fair bit of boxing.'

Anyway, here's your round up of the weekends ITK, of which there wasn't much so we dive straight into it with Rebrabs info.

Fergie will be buying another CB this summer, we will be bidding for Rio. Obviously doesn't mean we'll get him, but the feeling is (apparently) that Smalling and co. will take over Rio's position at Man U and he'd be happy to come rather than not be a definite starter there... guaranteed this will be hitting the rags soon enough, too big a piece of news not to really. :-|

on another note, again I shall state that Arsenal AREN'T in for Parker (Parker himself has told the club this), I assume he has mentioned the names Liverpool and Arsenal to put off other London teams that will offer him first team football. Expect him to sign as has been said by plenty of people. Again, not sure how I feel about this :-|
Interesting stuff.

Then on Sunday, over on COYS, someone rubbed a lamp and.........

Very much in for Diarra.

Will we bring in one of Parker and Diarra or both?

If the latter at whose expense?

Jenas/Wilson/Kranjcar and O'hara

hmmmmmm
Not one of my three wishes but hey-ho......

Our last snippet of the weekend came from phil, here on SC, well, he's in Barcelona actually, but you get my drift......

I live in Barcelona and one of my mates was having a drink in a bar with Osvaldo's agent. Apparently the deal's been done and he'll be heading to White Hart Lane for the new season.
And that was that.

We'd like to say a sad goodbye to Blackpool, i'm a bit 'meh' about Birmingham going down and would like to thank West Ham for yet another good laugh.

Finally, the sacking of Carlo Ancelotti raised a lot of eyebrows.

Especially his left one.

From a fella on another site I post on (posted it in the last thread but I'll repost)

I live in a little village outside Northallerton and next to a village in which Michael Dawson was brought up and his family still live.

Well anyway getting on with it. Michael is sitting down to sign a new deal in the next two weeks and next season he WILL be appointed new captain with Luka Modric as vice captain so take from that what you want.

I know this because I met his Parents in my local

It did take a few beers though

Also they said that Michael expects a South American to join in the next 6 weeks and a "top European player". Gits would not say who

I will try and have a word with Michael when he comes up here in the next two weeks when I play cricket with him.

That would be great news if they were made captain & vice captain. Genuinely believe that if king can't play more then 15 games we need a top quality CB to play along dawson next season.

Kaboul and Dawson should play every game together and Gallas or King should fill in when one is injured.

Not sure how exited i am by the Osvaldo itk, he doesn't look like the most ambitious signing, but then for us to sign any new striker is at least a step in the right direction i suppose.

Kaboul is positionally poor and tempermentally suspect. No way is he the top quality Cb to partner Dawson when King is not playing

Latest from Roger Morgan on SO:

Here is my latest info, no doubt a few hostages to fortune in here and much of it a recap of what I have posted before. Some of it a statement of the bleedin obvious.
Goalkeeper-wise. Still unsure of this. I'm told we like Foster but may keep Gomes and look for different, experienced back-up.
At right-back, Walker will return from Villa to be our No.1. We'll keep Corluka for his all-round abilities and the fact that he is Luka's big mate is seen as important to keeping Modric settled.
At left-back Rose has done well recently and will be good cover to rotate Benoit more next season.
In midfield we'll definitely keep Sandro, Luka and Big Tom. In wide positions we'll have Bale, Pienaar and one other. Lennon may be allowed to go, Villa very interested, presumably once they have sold Young to United or Liverpool.
We have spoken to Gervinho's (Lille) people who were also approached by Liverpool but seem to be further down the line towards a deal with us. He's a Brazilian winger, very quick and much taller than Lennon, should be a much bigger scorer/creator. Final ball needs work but he has explosive skills, should be suited to Prem.
Similarly we are pressing on with the Osvaldo (Espanyol) deal. Was told Harry has spoken to both Osvaldo and Gervinho.
We are also prepared to let Pav, Defoe and Crouch all go and freshen up strike force. Unsure of other striker names but if Drogba is expendable we'd be pushing hard to get him.
Of the rest, the following will leave to generate funds: O'Hara (Wolves fav, obviously, but he's good enough to trigger an auction), Jenas, Hutton, Niko and maybe even Palacios. Woodgate is out of contract.
No idea about Ledley. Maybe we'll keep him going till his engine drops out.
Obviously I expect GDS and Robbie to move on too.
You'll have known much of this but that's where we are today from my perspective.

Disagree, I think gallas has been immense this season, and his experince has beem invaluable, and everyone knows daws needs a talker alongside him, good news about his new deal, sure he only signed one last year didn't he? Nice pay rise for him I guess and deserved

Would prefer Gervinho to Osvaldo. But isnt Gervinho more a right winger come forward and Osvaldo a target man? So we could go for both especially if Lennon may leave.

Gervinho has a free role with Lille, plays either wing and up front. Yeah Osvaldo is more of a target man.

Nothing wrong with a quick, winger/forward. Didn't work out too bad for henry did it?

I would be dissappointed with Osvaldo as our marquee striker signing, but delighted with him as a second striker. He looks very talented, strong, fairly quick with good eye for a goal, but he's still a big gamble and shouldnt be too expensive imho. Still dreaming about Benzema, realise though that it's not going to happen. Would be very pleased with Drogba, Osvaldo and either Pav or a young, talented striker in addition to VDV. With Walker coming back to overlap I expect us to play a few games next season at hom with Walker behind VDV on the right, so I think we can accommodate three strikers.

Gervinho I don't know much about, but for better delivery and more goal threat I'm willing to let Lennon go. Would be perfect to swap him for A. Young, but can see we might struggle to compete with the attraction of Liverpool. For Gervinho I'm a bit wary of the fact that the French league isnt the strongest, mind you..

I'm beginning to come around to the idea of Osvaldo + another forward, rather than spending it all on one 30M player. We don't seem to have much of a chance in getting Rossi, Falcao or Llorente, so it's perhaps better to get one good Berbatov-style player and one wing-forward for a similar total spend. Increasing the chance that it'll work. I think Osvaldo could end up being a very shrewd signing, he looks like the kind of player that would work in the Premiership. Would be good to get Leandro as well as those two though.

Yeah Gervinho is right of a front 3 - basically a better Hulk.

Osvaldo's more an intelligent #9 - a poor man's Berbatov (not meant derogatory).

Gervinho----vdv----Bale
----------Osvaldo

could work; although there's no outstanding goalscorer in there.
