Just thinking aloud about big name AMs that are realistically possible...

James Rodriguez
Marek Hamsik
Arda Turan
Lucas Moura
Arjen Robben
Franck Ribery
Lorenzo Insigne
Javier Pastore
Nabil Fekir
Shinji Kagawa
Iker Muniain
Bernardo Silva
Rodrigo
Balde Keita
Rafinha

James Rodriguez - The most likely of the potential massive signing targets.
Marek Hamsik - Too old for Poch and Levy.
Arda Turan - Too old for Poch and Levy.
Lucas Moura - Can't see PSG selling him.
Arjen Robben - Way too old.
Franck Ribery - Way too old.
Lorenzo Insigne - Would worry me getting a player from Italy, takes a while for them to settle usually.
Javier Pastore - A bit old but a Poch style player, so definitely possible.
Nabil Fekir - No way we can close out a deal with Lyon with only a week left in the window.
Shinji Kagawa - Can't see Dortmund selling him, not sure he's exactly what we are after either.

Not convinced any of these are at the level Grey Fox is suggesting.
Iker Muniain
Bernardo Silva
Rodrigo
Balde Keita
Rafinha

Has 48 hours turned into 48 minutes for GKN? Or Lopez?

@igijedi did once post about the Fazio loan in January- but apart from that I can't recall too many times he's posted about outgoings.

Great to hear all the in-depth analysis of igijedi's post guys. Fact is without more info, none of you have any idea what he meant, and you are all guessing. Now guessing is fine, just don't hide behind a misconceived ability to rationally find the correct answer.

I can't see it happening because so many times in the late window a "special player could come in" but if I had go guess at the player being spoken about is then I'd say Isco - and that would be special

I can't remember the last window that Grey Fox didn't tell us that we were potentially in the market for a mega signing. It just doesn't strike me as in-keeping with our transfer strategy. Not meaning to cast aspersions on the info, but we're often linked with mega deals and 10 times out of 10 they don't happen. Soldado and Lamela aside I suppose, but those were both reported by the press first.

I think my source was indicating that it won't necessary be a mega millions purchase, but someone who Poch thinks would make a big difference to the current squad.

Trying to second guess, in my mind the only realistic signing that would make a big difference to the squad would be an experienced leader/winner.

What an update from @Grey Fox

All that matters is this season. If Eriksen signs the deal & commits to the cause, I have no qualms. If we exceeed expectation this season, You may never know, Eriksen might be willing to stay...Even if he doesnt stay , he is not unreplacable.

"Special player who will surprise" - I wonder , if its someone from PL itself, especially someone from our rival team(s).

And if that special player is more effective than Eriksen, then it won't matter if he goes.

ali z in response to grey fox' itk: I have said all summer we expect more out these could be any of Chadli, Bentaleb, Carroll, yedlin, Mason, Vorm or Son. There are a lot of factors involved , ie fees who we can get in, we are certainly after a keeper Georges should be done and we have wanted another AMC all summer, Poch does like most of those on the list so no hurry to shift them but he will if he thinks he can improve squad.

We're a club who's record transfer fee is £25 million or something like that. Are people really expecting us to go out and spend almost double our record fee on a player while we have to be a bit conservative with money due to the new stadium being built. o_O

I'd say it's going to be another player like Lamela who had a lot of potential when they came to the club and had a pretty good season beforehand but won't cost us an insane amount. ;)
