The other thing lots of people are forgetting when it comes to having irons in the fire, fingers in the pies, money in the wheelbarrow or whatever, is that we did the same thing last season and it wasn't exactly a roaring success. In desperate need of players we smashed £22m on Son, who has looked nothing like worth that kind of money.

Even if we do have transfer plans for the rest of the window, it doesn't necessarily mean that those players are particularty great or will be a success. Whereas we're actively forcing good, productive players out of the door, for peanuts in many cases.

This is a really cacky transfer window. I knew something like this would happen when we got Wanyama and Janssen in early. It was always too good to be true that we just actually strengthen the squad.

As things currently stand it's hard to disagree with your points

As it stands we haven't sold anyone that contributed much last season. If Mason, Chadli, Son and N'jie all leave, I'm confident we will see at least 2 replacements. I'm fine with that as it creates opportunities for youngsters in the domestic cups. We need to give the younger players more than 5 minute sub appearances to see how they perform.

As things stand with three days to go....this is another utter shambles of a transfer window...

How? We've brought in 2 excellent players in Janssen and Wanyama, in our most needed positions, and balanced the books by selling 4-5 player who played 3 games between them last season.

Just let all the doomsday stuff about Zaha and Phil Jones pass you by, as it's just being created to fill the void of real news.

So when we get knocked out of the CL at the group stage, get knocked out of the domestic cups and finish in 7th place in the PL because our strength in depth is too weak, it's ok because we've "balanced the books"??

What about the Champions League matches? Will Eriksen/Lamela/Alli play every single PL and CL match? That's 45 matches minimum of high intensity pressing football, if they can stay healthy. What two players that can be impactful will we buy at the 12th hour on Levy's terms?

Chadli and Son are highly experienced players who have scored goals in the Champions League. They contributed 15 goals and 10 assists in all competitions last season. That's not nothing. Those two and Mason were responsible for our wins against Sunderland, Palace, Swansea (Chadli scored a huge equalizer off the bench), and Watford. That's the difference between 3rd and 6th points wise. Janssen is not a substitute for any of them, as we desperately needed a #9 cover man anyhow.

Make no mistake, we sell all those players on that list of yours and you'll see the same 13 players playing in every single one of our non-domestic cup matches this season and if any injuries occur to a group of them, we're in deep trouble.

Not to mention they'd be knackered before the end of March!

I'm confident that if we sell all the mentioned players we will get a couple of replacements in. I'm sure we will not pull the trigger on all the sales without at least 2 signings. JJetset has said that he expects more than 2 incomings, with 1 being the young goalkeeper. The big game players can play all the big games, it's what the top players do.

Well not all top players are required to play in a system that demands high intensity pressing and clocking up the mileage. If you think Lamela, Alli and Eriksen can keep this up for a full season and not have fitness/fatigue issues then that's a little concerning.

I love how some people still think we're gonna sign 3 players. At best it's going to be a 3rd choice GK on loan and N'koudou - who doesn't particularly excite me.

I'm not a Levy hater but it is growing tiresome ending every window with a profit. I don't want us to spend like the Manchester clubs and I know we can't but I do want us to show ambition. We finally have champions league football so this was a great way to strengthen. This is the toughest year yet to get top 4 and it's probably only going to get more competitive. It is depressing looking at the business of the clubs around us when we look to end the window with a weaker squad than that of last season.

I know we have a stadium to play for etc but with the insane money in the English game I don't think one marquee signing when participating in Europe's elite competition would hurt! Very, very frustrating

I'm not even asking for a 'marquee signing'. I'm asking that more potential quality was added to the AM positions. Instead we are just removing the depth from it with little incomings to show for it.

i hope the GKN saga will not end like the Berahino saga...
if we can get GKN and keep N'jie our attacking option is still capable even Chadli leaves, we will have Lamela, Eriksen, Alli, GKN, Son and N'jie for 3 positions in AM, and Edwards may have a chance in FA cup and League Cup basing on the opponent
i think we may also see a Dier, Wanyama and Dembele midfield if we play against the giants in CL

Weird, a few weeks ago, people were happy with getting out Bentaleb, Mason, Chadli, and getting in Janssen, Wanyama, GKN...

What the fuck happened that turned "I'm very happy with this window" to "an utter shambles, we never fackin' go for it!"?

Most were still saying we needed another CM and AM at that point
