If he's kicking off now then that tells me that he definitely is not a Poch kind of player. I don't mind him wanting to play, I like that, but make the manager pick you in the right way
Remember he did have a bad injury which was clearly a setback. Who knows how far along he would be without the injury
He has actually made one appearance against gillingham in league cup last seasonIm so tired of the continuous speculation around this kid. If he were that good he'd be in the team already. We can't fret about someone who has not even made ONE first team appearance... Its all we've heard over the last 2-3 yrs.... his contract situation.
Step up or move on is how i feel about him now.
don't think he can complain that as he was injured (two times) when poch is going to give him game timeNo need for over reaction again. One man's opinion that a player's head isn't straight doesn't mean that Edwards is demanding Messi wages, captaincy and first option on penalty taking. He's probably just frustrated that he hasn't been given game time that he expected last season. This generation is used to getting what they want.
Thing is Messi was scoring for the Barcelona first team at 17. He's a very tallented player but he's no Messi. Anyway Breezer said it was all good and knows his dad so lets see

He SHOULD - but he's from a generation of players for whom being a youth team footballer doesn't mean what it used to.
I'm sure he goes off on England duty and there's a host of Man City / Chelsea players making £15,000 a week and never played a single game of 1st team football, all of whom have half the potential as he has.
According to some we have the "English Messi" on our hands - not difficult to put two and two together and come to the conclusion that Edwards might just think he's getting something of a raw deal.
Potential means nothing. Would be a millionaire if I had a £1 for all the people I know who had potential
He's extremely talented just on the small side as for Messi who is like Messi he was a one off and pumped full of hgh . Fingers crossed he stays injury free and can get some cup game time. And Edwards is 18. He'll be 19 in December. In my opinion he's already missed the wunderkind window.
And you know all this how?I have to say, Marcus Edwards isn't impressing me a damn bit...
Now, I don't watch the Youth team that often, but it seems everyone lost their shit after his appearance against Gillingham, which granted, he made some very good touches and all..
But he seems to be hampered by injuries, and it's not like he is absolutely tearing it up in the youth games, he is great on on the ball but seems a little limited. Those saying "We don't need to sign another first team attacker because we have Edwards" are deluded imho, he has made 1 sub appearance, and that merits him a spot in match day squads for a team pushing for the league and CL?...
On top of this, he seems to have a massive inflated ego, and seems to think he deserves a massive money contract with first team guarantees and all the lot, but seems to have done nothing to merit or deserve this. This may be down to him being best buds with Reece Oxford who held Spammers to Ransom and his mates at Chelsea who make thousands.
Now I'm not trying to slag the kid off here, but I'm a little dissapointed by the fact he is basically saying "Pay me thousands and play me every week or I'm off", despite our proven track record with youngsters and the fact that we are probably the best team for his development, he seems more concerned with making money and living the lifestyle...
Comes across like a kid who worked on the checkouts at tesco for a week then felt he deserved a managers position and doubled wages...
We dont let contracts run out? Whose gonna be the one to tell him?dragon1: We are well run we do not let contracts run out ,Edwards is a problem his heads not 100% right will see what season brings but poch is all about team ethos and work ethic , either he ships up or he will be on way
Those bitching about walker , was poch decision , Walker wanted to play more and they disagreed on a couple of other things and poch was done , levy did not push the sale
We dont let contracts run out? Whose gonna be the one to tell him?
I think the point dragon is making, so is that if Edwards contract ends up running out or will be because we have decided that, however talented he may be, he does no justify giving him what he wants.
@Breezer - any idea what kind of wages Edwards is on? Think we'd be getting ourselves in hot water if we offer this guy much more than that...
Yes! But that's not really for forum chat. I can tell you he didn't travel to USA with the squad because he's only just finished with England plus negotiations ongoing over a new contract which are currently not agreed and may take a while.
