Actually people have been criticising him for it which I think is unfair given we don't know the details about it

Thank you.

The conversation at his home could easily be this

Dad: Marcus you've got that new contract from Spurs what are you thinking?

ME: You know what, I really loves Spurs and want to sign but I'm desperate to make it and I believe if given a chance I will do well but they're a top 6 side and knowing what the PL is like I might never get it. Signing up for 3 years, could be a big risk.

Dad: Good point and I see the predicament you're in, but if you work hard you'll get a chance.

ME: I've seen many top young players get wasted in the PL there is no guarantee. Plus I have been working hard, I have been tracking back a lot more recently in my games.

Dad: Well are you happy with the money you're being offered?

ME: Well, I understand Spurs don't offer too much, and I would like more considering Barcelona wanted me and my mates are getting so much more but that isn't a big issue. I really enjoy being at Spurs, but I just want to play football. I mean the manager has told me he thinks I could be like Messi, its a really hard decision.

SC

"money grabber", "He hasn't done anything yet to be making demands", "he can just f*** off, up his own arse" " we don't need players like this, we know what they'll be like when they're older"

Granted the script isn't quite Corrie but that could be what is going through his head. Why has he become a villain. He is the victim of his own ability and the media

Funnily enough he could be a cock, but he is an 18 year old who throughout his whole teenage life has been the best footballer in his age group in England. He's had the best clubs in the world after him. give the guy a break. There are plenty of people on this forum who I'm sure are arrogant cocks who have a lot less on their CV. Its part of growing up.

Also if he was a money grabber, don't you think he would have just gone to one of the rich clubs before h signed this contract. He obviously took the initial cheaper offer for a reason.

The speculation is too much. And if he ended up signing and staying, I get the feeling he'd already be public enemy no.1 in the club and will be starting on the back foot with fans.

I also don't get this demands thing. The mere fact that we keep offering or are negotiating with him suggests he isn't making massive demands. He maybe wants some assurances, which we likely will not do, and that is where the trust in us has to come in. Should he blindly trust that he will get a chance if he works his arse off, PL suggests its hard either way.

In the youth thread it's been said his agent is Sky Andrew. That should tell us all we need to know.

Again a few posters actually posted evidence I believe suggesting this isn't the case. But this is the type of post, which will whip people up into a frenzy about his character based on very little or what may be false information anyway

He wont, the crazy people who lurk on this site, particularly in the ITK thread are really not representative of our fan base. Most spurs fans have only a bit of knowledge on Edwards and don't really know his contract situation.

From what I gather, he is negotiating with the club for a contract. We wont play him until he has signed on. There could be a million reasons for this, but its very normal for contracts to go through long stretches of negotiations. Ultimately he is well with in his rights to try and get the best deal he can. I've got a feeling he will extend his contract. I just think the agents are playing the game. Knowing that he could be earning more money elsewhere as tool to get a better contract.

Every supporter wants a home grown talent to succeed. Its the most satisfying experience. Just look at Harry Kane.... He is from our academy. The same applies to Edwards..... BUT in this thread and the Marcus Edwards thread..... The most discussed point is his Contract...In the Winks, Onomah, Ccv threads its the players attributes/strengths etc.

So many posters me included would like that to be the focal point in the Edwards threads. Just look at this thread today. Some want to move on from that even to the extent that he move on if that is his desire.

I think it simply boils down to this being the ITK thread, we've had one bit of ITK recently which was about Edwards contract and him possibly being a problem. People are reacting to that and talking about it, it's what happens in here. If someone links a player to the club, people discuss it, take it with a pinch of salt, but talk likes its true as that's what we do. Same applies here.

I understand that, but he's not the person bringing up his contract other people are, he doesn't even tweet or post anything on instagram that is remotely controversial. What happens is time goes by, nothing is said then suddenly a fan asks, or a journalists writes or ITK posts about his contract. He gets discussed and people get frustrated and annoyed about something he hasn't even done

Just because we get frustrated by it, it doesn't mean he should rush a massive decision in his life that will affect his future and career. At the end of the day he's the only one missing out by not playing.

I just don't get why people hate him so much for it. Read back over the 3 pages and read the jumping to conclusions, speculation, and some from what I remember some harsh comments on his character. Over zilch. Edwards isn't 100%? Well of course not he is still deciding on his future. As someone said Toby hasn't signed anything but no one is laying into him. He is just weighing up his options.

I get your point and the young lad is within his rights. I never knew of him until Tim Sherwood singled him out.... Then there was a hive of activity in his thread... Until a poster pointed out his contract situation. That was 3 yrs ago....

He is a talented young man by all accounts. I hope he makes the right choices and does so soon enough.

The initial issue would have been that he could be picked up by other clubs as a free, before he officially entered our academy as a scholar. He had offers from top clubs but stayed with us. On the other hand for example Nya Kirby left at the same stage. TOB would have had similar offers. The next contract issue came when he turned 17 and could sign a pro. That's when he agreed to a year plus one extension. Now he is into the extension year and we are where we are.

Most fans wouldn't have been aware of anything, if as you say Sherwood didn't mention him. As he did his name was on people's lips and people were talking about a contract at an age where most just go under the radar so it feels as if that is all we ever talk about with him. Let's just hope things work out, at the end of the day we all want to same thing, just feel its unfair the player gets tarnished

The crazy people that lurk etc - you are kidding right? I think most of the comments have been quite balanced. He is young and he has shown flashes of brilliance but I think there is too much hype at the moment. Personally I haven't seen enough to warrant the hype and to be honest only Edwards can show he has that something extra. At the moment he looks like a bit of a luxury player and I find it hard to think how he would fit into a Poch side with his work rate. Lets hope it works out for the lad but I don't see him exactly setting the world on fire.

I bet the little shit doesn't even make his own bed. Send him to Northampton Town and teach him a lesson.

Nothing wrong in getting the best deal possible for yourself, levy's known to be a tough negotiator, why just bend over for him? Be tough back, doesn't mean a deal won't be reached

I always hated the saying "you made your bed now you got to lie in it". Why would you lie in it after making it? Surely you make it after lying in it. Anyway maybe time to put this one to bed. Mini Messi stays as far as I'm concerned. Just because there's a problem with his contract doesn't mean it's because of him being a rudeboy. Maybe Levy offered him less money to stay for 5 years.

Toby is a first team player who shouldn't even be discussed in comparison to Marcus Edwards. He's the best CB in prem, he's proved what he can do. We NEED him and he 100% deserves to be up there with Kane Hugo etc.
I've said it before would love Edwards to do well and make it. As fans we need to support these young prospects and watch them grow. I never felt so relaxed being a spurs fan as I have now and that's down to poch, so Let's just relax and see how Edwards progresses.

The reason he never went to the States is that he is having a short break after the Euros - nothing to do with his contract in the slightest he will return to the first team set up after his short break. There really isn't much to see here at all. The coaches at Spurs love him his attitude according to them is first class He was a little unlucky last season with a few small knocks and he is still only a kid anxious to impress sometimes overly.

I think for Marcus he needs to find ways to impact games on a more continuous basis I never saw as much of him last season but from others his beginning to have more of an impact and he is scoring more goals. He is a real talent but needs like the others needs to play Spurs have to find that medium sadly its something missing in English football
I think you should clean your keyboard, mate; it seems like your "." and ","-keys aren´t working properly. ;)
