When Poch talked of taking risks this must include moving on players you don't think will make it. So if Poch is saying these two are surplus then getting them off the books makes sense. Of course they might turn out to be superstars but there is no way they currently are going to improve our elite team

Would be annoyed if we did let Onomah go, as seems we’ve really stepped back from giving promising youngsters proper chances.

Onomah hasn’t been given one start in his proper central midfield role for us.

That's what happens when you get bigger as a team unfortunately. To make it at a Top 4 club you have to be of a certain quality. What's what under23 youth development teams or loans are for.

Onomah isn't good enough at this moment to make the grade at Spurs. I'm sure if he were to all of a sudden explode we'd have a buy back option on him. That is if Pochettino rates him high enough to do so

If Onomah is currently injured I'd be surprised if he went on a permanent deal. I'm hoping a loan to Villa as part of the Grealish deal.

If we have to let Onomah go to get Grealish in I have no issue with that. I do hope if it's a sale we get a buy back clause though. The likes of Barca and Real Madrid do it all the time so maybe we should do something similar.

Onomah is one of the best talents our Youth set up has produced. Unfortunately , he hasn't been given the chance to play in his natural position, neither by Poch or at Villa.

Plenty of youth players never get the chance to show what they can do in the first team. For good reason I would assume. Playing in the first team isn't the only way to judge. Our coaches see them every day in training and youth games.

We'll see if you're right when he moves on and if he develops I guess. Personally after watching him about 20 times I don't think he's got the brains to play at a top 4 club. It wouldn't surprise me to see him end up as a squad player at Newcastle or Brighton eventually

What is the message we should send though? Even if you don't fulfil you're talent you can still stay at the club? I'd love to see Josh become a first team player but it seems to be looking less and less likely, it'd be a bloody shame but football is an unsentimental business at this level.

I don’t think it’s his footballing potential perhaps more an attitude problem. Wasn’t there some ITK ages ago suggesting his talked up ‘potential’ had gone to his head ?

I thought the coaching staff have/had concerns about Josh’s inner drive and desire to be the best he can be as opposed to his attitude, a trait you must have to succeed at the top level

Hmmmm.

Hearing there have been discreet enquiries for Lewis Cook.

Maybe a fall back option or an addition to a more senior CM?

I was told two at the start of the window if Dembele left. :cautious:
