I'm gonna punch myself in the dick till i die from it if we dont sign someone who immediately improves our first team.. I Really cant imagine this is what Poch was talking about when he mentioned being brave. Yes i understand money and how you need it to buy players but some are expensive and how theres squad places and you cant put too many players into too little spaces and pay all their wages. I just pissing well want a big money signing that'll make me jizz my pants and take us to the next level. we should definately keep buying potential but i just feel we need it at this stage

I think you missed the word literally

We challenged for the league in a season where our only first team signing was Victor Wanyama. High profile transfers =/= success. Both Lewis Cook and Jack Grealish would be signings that are very characteristic of Tottenham over the last 5 years. The same 5 years in which we had our best league run since the 60s.
I'm not doubting the strength of our first team but there's no denying that 2 or 3 have stronger squads and lots of options which make it really hard for us to keep up with. I didn't even say anything that contentious, just that we can't pretend to be a team looking at challenging when last years champions are buying Mahrez as a squad filler. Couldn't we have interested him? Liverpool were strong and have continued recruiting what looks like quality on paper. Again, to clarify I'm not saying we're supposed to overspend like Liverpool do as the market is currently insane but we shouldn't really be expected to be able to challenge without a bit of support to our good players.
It's fine now, but you must have some worry that Poch and our best players will want to go next year if we have a bad year and the club hasn't 'looked' to have supported them with investment.

Look out for media outlets later on today, could overlap to tomorrow

Also, going against the grain here but don’t think Onomah is going anywhere despite not being on tour.
This is exciting. Given what rebrab said late last week, are we finally going to see the name of that CM target?

I posted this before last season.
I sat next to Ugo Ehigue

I posted this last year. I sat next to Ugo Ehiogu some months before he died at a Spurs match. I asked him who he considered ws the best of our youngsters He said without doubt Josh. He had everything but had never had the chance to play in the right position when coming on to play as a sub. His position is central mid field but Ugo feared it would be very difficult for him to break into the team in that position as we were so o strong there. He did say that without doubt he would make it as he was extremely talented probably the best youngster he had ever seen.
He also said that Edwards had supreme talent but such a poor attitude that he had grave doubts that he would make it. BTW he w a really lovely guy and a sad loss.
This opinion needs to be taken very seriously. From what I have seen I think Ehiogu was absolutely correct.

I wondered if the Martial news tied in with this from a couple of outlets but If I remember correctly Rebrab mentioned specifically a cm.

Perhaps someone at the club knows something you don't?
Perhaps Onomah is not rated as highly by the people that work with him?
Perhaps Josh is over hyped on here by people that haven't seen him compete against seasoned pro's?
Perhaps none of that is true, or even all of it, but the way JO is spoken of on here is so reminiscent of so many talented Youth players who have never made it in the long term. So someone who released them clearly knew something.
Josh is rated as the best player by our coaches at every age group. However sometimes timing can be wrong, injuries etc. Breaking into the Spurs first team right now is almost impossible. A move could kick start his career. I’m sure if he was sold we’d defo have a buy back option. Personally I’d prefer if he was loaned out for another season where he can play regularly, it’s only a matter time before it clicks for him and the world sees his talent.

Hmmm lewis cook ... cheers for itk passing on potential target ...

yes i get it youth and future future future ... just very underwhelming ... thr tactic of not annoucing existing big name player extensions seems like a safe guard to a potentially known crap window .... we needed to min 2 top quality additions first team starters/fight for first team first 11 place, players with pedigree and help us move to a up in level with minimum impact time ...

Feels like the club didnt plan on the scenario of moving players out never going or being bouggt at our valuation ... betting on them leaving and just doing all leg work on incomings ... hence if one cog fails so do the others .... or just great used tactic for excuse and convenience of not buying some proper quality again.. we can buy ... but we wont but will show were trying

Im not saying they havent just very much feels like it from the club in terms of goings on and info weve had from itk ...

Very underwhemling its begining to feel

Hi Yoda, welcome to SC :cautious:

I mean he literally dictated our biggest games of last season then got injured. Don't think you're giving Onomah a fair crack either.

Dictated? Haha. He played well Madrid away but dictated..come on now. He's saved his best performances for the CL but in the PL I can't remember a single game where he's really played well, let alone dictated it.

I still have hopes for the lad but the over rating regarding Winks in incredible.

I kind of agree. Love him to bits and when he has to move the ball quickly when pressed he has been fantastic as he's good at evading pressure and picking a pass. But he doesn't look comfortable at moving the ball quickly and picking a pass when the opposition sit off and park the bus. I think its a confidence thing/fear of giving the ball away which is why he plays better when he has no choice but to play fast.

Almost as incredible as your dismissal of his ability
