Good luck with that. The truth is we all know how this summer will progress because we've seen the movie before with the same director. The script never changes only the actors do. So expect a long summer of being linked to players the manager wants and the team needs only to end up signing a bunch of dross that fits neither objective. ITK is like a light relief to try and alleviate the tedium of the repeated script. The really important things at the club this summer are happening off the pitch; stadium sponsorship and an NFL franchise. Get those and then in a few years time maybe we will actually buy some of the players we need. In the interim, enjoy our youth players.

No offence mate but I am getting really bored of reading posts like this, which in my opinion are just markers so you can come back smugly at the end of the window and crow about how you told us so. There are plenty more threads in this forum for the harbingers of doom!

A lot of ITK has come out saying that the club have canged their philosophy and this is backed up to an extent by the appointment of people like Mitchell. The players the ITK have linked us with are in my opinion again sensible and gettable. These are not the days of the wild fantasist ITK chirping in with us possibly being in for Sergio Ramos as long as Kaboul goes the other way.

Finally whilst I have my stop pissing on my bofire hat on...I would love us to have enough 'Youth Players' coming through into our first team becasue if they are that means they are probably good enough and more than that it means any young kids that are being courted by the top clubs will look at ours and see there is a clear progression possibility into the first team for those who are good enough, which has to be an appealing thing for any kid and their family making that decision.

Like I say this isnt solely directed at you but the amount of similar posts I have read over the last few days as finally got to me.

So many posts like the one you are talking about it is so boring... Especially in a summer when we have already signed two decent players. As you said if better players aren't available I'm happy to leave space for players like Onoma, Winks, Carroll etc to get a shot...

Yep, we've definitely seen this movie before, except I don't ever remember it starting with an opening sequence involve the signing of two players that the manager clearly wanted....
It was leaving it to the last minute that resulted in us buying players that were 4/5th choice rather than what was wanted.
Levy appears to have seen the light at last and, when the players Poch wants fit the bill in terms of fee and wage, Levy is opening the cheque book.

We cannot compete with the top 4 when it comes to making big signings, because we have a sensible wage structure, we aren't in the CL and we don't have a sugar daddy ignoring FFP rules in the hope they'll never get pulled up over it.
The fact that we are financially the best run club in the country and are still regularly maintaining a top 6 spot and a place in Europe is a solid step in the right direction.

must have missed that final and reveling in the glory that came with it, what a night that must been- was the trophy we lifted called The Accountants Champions League sponsored by KMPG?
Yep being factious of course and not really directed solely at you but will never get fans who cant just be fans and actually want to win something rather than spend their time focusing on the finances as to why we wont.
But even then we all know that if Levy loosened the purse strings just a bit and didn't make quite as much profit for ENIC or himself we would stand a much better chance of some glory glory nights - remember those?
