For All Those In Doubt As To Whether Fabiano Would Be Cup-Tied.

According to the rules in the section below, Fabiano will NOT be cup-tied if Sevilla FAIL to reach the group stages of the Champions League. If we fail and Sevilla don't or we both fail then Fabiano can still play for us in the EUROPA LEAGUE. See below:

18.07 As a rule, a player may not play in a UEFA club competition (i.e. UEFA
Champions League and UEFA Europa League, but not UEFA Super Cup) for
more than one club in the course of the same season. Exceptionally,
however, a player who has been fielded in the first, second or third qualifying
round of the UEFA Champions League or UEFA Europa League is entitled to
play in the UEFA Champions League or UEFA Europa League for another
club as from the group stage, provided that his former club did not qualify for
the group phase of either the UEFA Champions League or the UEFA Europa
League; moreover, as from the start of the round of 16 (round of 32 for UEFA
Europa League), a player can be registered in accordance with paragraphs
18.17 to 18.20 below. For the avoidance of doubt, a substitute player who
has not been fielded is entitled to play for another club competing in the
UEFA Champions League or UEFA Europa League in the course of the
same season, provided that he is registered with the UEFA administration in
accordance with the present regulations.

There was a post yesterday with a statement by UEFA confirming that they consider the CL play-offs to be part of the CL itself. (referecne to the CL music being played etc).

He certainly would be cup-tied

Fabiano WILL be cup-tied because the exception to the cup-tied rule is qualifying round 1 to 3:

We are playing in qualifying round 4, so Fabiano is cup-tied regardless of whether Sevilla qualify or not.

Re: the Skyderen info, he knew about the Kjaer deal did he not, maybe his source is in the Scandanavian part of the world so maybe his unnamed player is Toivonen??

I'm sceptical, he knew info about Kjaer through his girlfriend.....not sure Kjaer's GF is itk about any other Spurs transfers.....

This only say 1st, 2nd or 3rd round of qualifyers. Well now we're in the 4th playoff round....so how is the above relevant?

Apparently Keane will only consider going to Celtic. He doesn't want to move to Villa and certainly doesn't fancy West Ham.

Ah yes. Naughton doesn't cut it for me. Walker is much the better promise. Exactly what we need going forward but a little naive defensively.

Actually I think both are good prospects, Naughton struck me as being a thoughtful player and I wouldn't write him of at Spurs.

I am sure DL could do a deal whereby they give us £500,000 every years for the next 20 years

If we were (somehow) to get to the group stage and through to the knockout - we would then be able to register Fabiano (if we sign him?)

A lot of IFS and BUTs there but... that's the jist of the situation?

No we wouldn't. Clause 18.18 rules him out:

18.18 One player from the above quota of three who has played UEFA club
competition matches for another competing club in the current season may
exceptionally be registered, provided that the player has not been fielded:
in the same competition for another club; or

for another club that is currently in the same competition.

That just sounds like ValY's opinion, but I happen to agree. I think Keane would rather be a big fish up there.

How will Celtic afford Keane's wages?

We'll end up making up the difference on anything more than £40k pw

:bang:

I think someone from FTL contacted Uefa regarding this, and he would be cup-tied because Sevilla are in the 4th round stages of qualifying. I guess time will tell. But fingers crossed if we do manage to sign him, he won't be.

This is my understanding as of now - maybe we should just put a false moustache on him and hope no other bugger notices?
