Arkie and one other I think.

The problem with just getting Fabiano is that our balance is still way out. Fabiano wouldn't be able to partner any of Defoe, Keane or Pav as they are all to similar (i.e. out-and-out poachers).

Getting a Berbatov style hold-up and link-up man is actually more important than upgrading our poacher.

I wouldn't class Benzema as a Berbatov style hold-up and link-man though.

He scored a very good goal at the world cup

Not a reason to buy a player or prove he is anygood...Siphiwe Tshabalala scored a screamer for South Africa...you wouldn't use this to justify a move to Tottenham or even the fact that he is a half-decent player.

I always thought of Diarra as a pressing player rather than one who sits in the holding role. More of a Barry than a De Jong really. He covers plenty of ground like Palacios.

I would love it to be Benzema because I think he needs to be out of the spotlight to return to form. I'm also going to throw in another name, Aguero. Just because we only have a few days left and I like to get my hopes up.

Yes he is basically a good version of Zokora. That isn't an insult, that is that if Zokora had actually been good at the things he was trying to do in his role then he would have been excellent.

I don`t think that Diarra and Palacios are similar players at all...IMO its Hudd we need backup/cover/competition (call it what you like) for, Hudd knits the midield together, I would have thought Diarra would be more suitable to this role than being considered an upgrade on Palacios, they are not similar style players...

Agreed. Palacios hunts for the ball. you need someone that sits zonally to allow the hunting player to commit. If you commit, sometimes you'll get it worng and thats when a sitting player covers and prevents the oppostion getting a clear run on CB's.

Diarra doesn't hunt for the ball with quite the same verve so i would imagine him playing with Palacios more oftern than replacing him. Parker is a bigger and more suitable challenge to palacios' place in the starting 11.

Harry Redknapp admits Spurs will struggle to lure former Arsenal midfielder Lassana Diarra to White Hart Lane

Read more: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/fo...uggle-sign-Lassana-Diarra.html?#ixzz0xX7r5UUG

Redknapp insisted: 'Peter Crouch is not for sale. He won't be going anywhere.
'He's a fantastic player. He played up front alone at Stoke because we were struggling. Crouchie hasn't got a price on his head. He's not going anywhere if we want to move this club forward.
'Pienaar's a great player but he's an Everton player. I've never spoken to David Moyes about him.'

Yeah but the person giving Harry his info is just winding him up. They have a right laugh about it up in Mod Towers.

With the amount of chances we create, I'm happy to flood our attack with all the out and out poachers we can. Hell, even at his age and with no pace in all probability, I reckon Lineker would score 20 a season in the league just from playing the first half an hour of each match.

Sorry Lads.....

Redknapp has been linked with a move for Sevilla striker Luis Fabiano, Real Madrid midfielder Lassana Diarra and a swap deal for Everton midfielder Steven Pienaar involving Peter Crouch but the Spurs manager dismissed all three transfers.

He said: "I would be surprised if there is anything happening here before the window closes. It could, but at the moment I couldn't say we are close to doing any deals, selling or buying. It is pretty dead out there."

Even if we do sign Fabiano, I'd still like us to sign a top class forward to play in the CL. With Fab no eligible for the CL then it gives us a better chance of keeping 4 forwards happy, so a choice of Fabiano, Defoe, Crouch and Benzema would give us plenty of options with Keane and Pav moving on. (I'd never thought that I'd actaully think that we could possibly have Fabiano and Benzema in our team until now!)

Our best ITK has pretty much just confirmed that deals are imminent:

Redknapp said: "I would be surprised if there is anything happening here before the window closes. It could, but at the moment I couldn't say we are close to doing any deals, selling or buying. It is pretty dead out there."

Appy as Arry on COYS:
Nothing really new, but this is the last I can give from my contact as people are getting very nervous around the club and he knows I post on forums. As before this is all in good faith and the guy is a Spurs man through and through. Most of this confirms other ITK already given

People at the club are clocking up a lot of Air miles and burning the midnight oil so much so that some key people may well miss tomorrows game!

Fabiano as close to be done as can be, he might not even play for Seville tonight and could be at the lane as early as tomorrow

Diarra and Parker are still definitely on the shopping list and this is the most exciting bit, (He knows I want a younger but proven goal scorer and told me to get excited.

Another striker is on the cards ( I was told while back two in two out) and this looks like it still might happen. Not even Defoe safe!, but the likely two out are Keane and Crouch.

Cuddicini and Naughton could be going to Middlesboro.

Keane wants Celtic or no one and a deal is trying to be worked out re wages etc.

O'Hara having an operation on his back and therefore we are having trouble getting rid of might wait until January to off load him and probably to Wet Sham.

I'm hardly inclined to believe what Harry say about players coming to our club, he said he didn't think we would get Defoe, Crouch, Palacios etc.

Harry has said the same all window. Even before he signed Gallas he wasn't expecting anyone to come in.

The week before Gallas signed he said on SSN that he doubted it would happen...

One thing I am having trouble getting my head round, is why an earth we waited until he was CL cup tied (Fabiano) if we are going after him regardless. It's where we need someone like him most. Was it levy knowing he could wipe a few mill off the tag if he is cup tied ?

Funny thing to do though.

I've been having trouble with this one too.

I think it was the Sevilla would not let him go before their playoff, they wanted him to make sure they reached the group stage payday.

This makes more sense from Seville's pov, but I'm surprised we stuck with only one target who would be cup-tied, unless there really another quality non - cup tied striker on the radar as well?

One can but hope!

It's better to play it down than get all excited and it doesn't come off.

By the way Hitlers an African Jew. I knew they'd get the blame for starting the second world war.
