What if what Toby did sets precedent to allow other players to try the same thing.

It might do if he gets his wish and moves to Man Utd on huge wages, but if he ends up staying I would imagine that would send a greater message that it ain’t gonna work (y).

I really want Toby to man up, apologise to Poch, make amends by jerking Mouninho around on Levy's command, taking it to the wire and having Levy sign Martial letting them believe they'll get Toby, and then signing a new deal with us at 9pm August 9th ?

this is exactly what manu is thinking as well. would i rather keep an unhappy player or would i rather sabotage spurs season? i guaran-damn-tee you they are thinking about the latter. we should just move on. it would be stupid to let manu dictate our season and by buying some one else it actually increases our leverage in bargaining.

Very true, funny how being moved to a top club on massive wages is being deemed as a 'punishment' by some. Yes it means Poch sends a strong message of 'buy in or f-off' but really the only party that really lose out are the Spurs fans seeing another quality player leave.

If Toby ends up signing a new deal it could send a strong statement that 1. We are now at the level (infrastructure, financially and squad wise) where the grass might not be greener and 2. we will only let players go on our terms, even if they kick off.

Now obviously this would have to be done in a way that sticks to Poch's ethos, but an apology to everyone in the club should suffice on that front.

I was actually quite torn on him staying but typing that out makes me want it more now.

Toby’s contract offer is still the same one, with absolutely no changes. He either signs-what he gave his word to, and becomes water under the bridge. Or! He won’t be in manager’s plans, and hard to get game time, which he knows. Yanited are not willing to pay even 50m for him. His value on the market is circa 30-35m from outside. I know he is worth more than that.

Out of the horses mouth; Josh is not for sale.

Thank you Herc! Shame that is the same injury from the Villa loan, hopefully he wont be out for too much longer.

It's starting to sound like the £25m release clause could work against Toby. We're not prepared to let him go on the cheap this season and no-one else will pay his market value when they can get him for so much less next summer. I wonder how he'll feel if he goes another season with very little playing time.

There's something very satisfying about him being offered the original contract on a take it or leave it basis. I personally think he's really lucky to be offered it again. If he doesn't snatch it out of Levy's hand and eat a large slice of humble pie at the same time then, quite frankly, he can do one.

the players are grown adults and are not surely as easily persuaded to copy behaviour. If Toby has done wrong, and been punished by Poch (as he was dropped for most of the season post injury) then that shows the players it is not accepted. If he makes amends with the manager and is brought back into the team it actually goes to reinforce the togetherness that the team boasts rather than weaken the managers position. I welcome the news he could stay as I think it will only happen on Poch's terms and therefore he will remain in control of the team.

I am more than happy to wait until the end of the transfer window, so long as we are signing the right players. I have been a levy backer since he took over the club. But if he messes up this window in particular, I will be on his case. We have the stadium (and subsequent revenue), we have the brand, the image, the manager, the players, the style of play and we are truly giants in the making. Now is the time to back your manager, Daniel. Please do it over the next 2 weeks.

Two weeks is plenty of time to either get it so right or so wrong. The clubs has really been on the back foot on many things this summer.
