Opinion of someone very close to this one

The reason this keeps getting held back is because Grealish may not be our primary option.

Would explain why it has been so incredibly close for so long.

Bit harsh on the kid, playing Russian roulette with someone elses career when he could be seeking a move elsewhere.

I thought Grealish was our banker. Got to admit I wasn't overjoyed initially but had convinced myself if it was what Poch wanted he would be a reasonable acquisition and we should get on board. I would have been pleased if we announced his signing. Now he's our second choice behind Player X and its messed with my head! If we now announce Grealish I'm going to feel like we've missed out on the bigger fish. How do the ITK's cope with this all summer?! Constant cycle of hope, nearly rans and disappointment

Think I must be the only one not too pleased about the latest ITK if people are interpreting it correctly.

I want us to sign Grealish as I thought it would be a "bonus" type signing of a skilful type of player we are lacking in the squad and someone who could maybe make any absences of Eriksen a little less problematic. Expected another midfielder in addition anyway when Dembele leaves (was under the impression it was still when as opposed to if).

And I'd also rather sign Zaha and keep Toby than exchange Toby for Martial (even though Marital would be a very good signing).

I kind of saw grealish as an eriksen understudy also, we really struggle when he s not available or firing on all cylinders. Really wanted us to.sign him tbh more than I probably should:)

Herc’s fireworks post is interesting - with a clear suggestion the DL is looking a several interconnected ins and outs to get what we want. We’ve all assumed that Martial hinges on Toby going to Utd, but with Blind returning to Ajax they have a obvious hole at left back. Does Danny Rose come into the equation one way - Luke Shaw the other? A double set of interconnected deals sounds hideously complicated but it would be “fireworks.”

I would feel sad for JG if this were to be the case. Sold a dream (probably). I suppose Dan could then go back with a counter offer of £8m! :ROFLMAO:
It happens both ways though. Only the other day Malcom was heading to Roma and had their fans excited and then Barca come calling. It's unfortunate but that's the way the transfer window goes. At leats Jack is Villa through and through so will be happy to stay.

It’s a mindset though. Probably wrestled with his emotions a bit and then sold it to himself. Not quite the same as a club nearly signing a player. As it happens I still think we’ll sign him anyway.

If true then that would be a signal of real ambition spending that sort of money on a squad player (provided we also spend on the other quality we need)

Doesn’t make a lot of sense considering Grealish is a HG squad player with potential to be first team. Who else could fill that gap?

This is what I don't understand. There has been a lot of talk of the necessity of bringing in HG, so I don't know how we could drop Grealish & get in someone HG, in the same position or a different one. Maybe Maguire links are genuine?

That makes no sense, so Utd have a hole at left back but they'll swap a left back for another. So they would still have a hole there

I'm back now you ****s.

If I were to go through this thread I'm not sure we'd have anyone left and I'm perfectly willing to do that but I haven't the time.

But this was brought to my attention.
He said bald eagle, mate. Literally told you the player without naming him or breaking out chocolate
This has to be the stupidest interpretation of ITK I've ever seen, by quite some margin. And it's half the reason that this thread gets derailed all the time, this make believe bullshit interpretation that appears out of nowhere.

You can be sure I'll be looking out for this crap in the future, either act sensibly or you're out, you bunch of feebs.
