I would have said the idea is to improve our options off the bench, not necessarily the first team.

Yeah totally agree bu t the best way of improving the bench is to buy someone for the first team and demote the replaced player on to the bench.

Like you said It's difficult.

We finished 2nd in the league, only lost 4 leagues all season, played the most attacking adventurous football in the league.

In my eyes, we were the best team in the league and it was mainly Chelsea's schedule which gave them the advantage.

To buy players to improve our first team is always difficult.

Poch's template during the summer transfer window reads like this. He'll buy one player who will walk into our first team and arguably be our player of the season ie Wanyama and Alderweireld. These are players who we usually buy before preseason,

Buy someone unknown to most and be a good squad player like Wimmer and (at a stretch) Janssen.

Followed buy a complete gambles, that so far hasn't haven't paid off such as N'jie and N'Koudou.

Sissoko was just a mistake, a big mistake.

But with the quality we already have it'll be difficult to get some one who will walk into our first team unless we're prepared to spend big.

I could see us buying Mawson and Sessegnon but don't have a clue who our marquee signing will be now ITK negatively spoken about our chances of getting Lemar.

It is the squad we need to improve not the first 11, our bench in most games last year was weak. We know we are a club who gets no luck with injuries and the squad cost us last year.

You just have to look at the games we drew at start of season which ultimately cost us, we had nothing to change it, the trouble is the others are and we are not in the same league as them from a financial point of view, I just hope the stadium does help us catch up and we don't fall too far behind as its clear that if the summer continues as is we will fall behind next year

Poch has made me love football and Spurs more than ever but as each season passes and the gap between the financial power of us and the other top teams only seems to widen, it really does seem inevitable that our current success is on borrowed time.

It's sickening, but thats modern football, we've been lucky to have been removed from it for the last couple of years...

With the lack of ITK about any incomings as of yet it looks like we could be in for a difficult long summer ahead.
With our rivals strengthening up I can see us along with playing at Wembley finishing sixth next year at best, which I suppose considering our finances is not bad.

Obviously our 90k capacity next season has done nothing to increase our wage capacity

This I don't understand either, I know we will be paying rent but clearly not expecting to sell out Wembley as this and the move to new stadium I thought we would extend wages, either that or Levy will never change in this area even when we get into the new stadium.... he has done wonders so far for us but lets hope with the money in the league now this could be where he starts to get exposed

Completely agree with you, you will probably get a load of spam and doh's for this comment but I agree with you 100%. I think 6th next year if things don't change, and the worry will be what players and Poch? want to leave the season we move into new stadium.
Its a real shame as we seemed to be getting somewhere and stupid money comes into the game which gives smaller clubs a chance to heavily spend and we fall further and further behind. Levy must be able to see this? @JJetset needs to give us some good news please....!

I shouldn't bite but....
Why do you keep saying we had a bad start to last bleeding season ???
It was our best since 61 that's 1961!

I hope we have a equally shit feckin start to next season I will be ecstatic

Agree although I'm not being negative just looking at things realistically we are a good team no question but need to keep in with that pack and keep our best players and manager.
I'm sure the club will take the time to make the right decisions so we will see how we go next time out.

We had a great season but first 3 games (2 draws and 1 win) that is not our best start... if we won those 2 games instead of drawn we would have been much closer. We then had a torrid time in Oct due to injuries

I think the truth is it will change but only once new turnover is established and a large chunk of stadium has been paid off. Realistically 5 years or so I would've thought

I was kind of joking earlier when I said a Gray or 2. But if we bought both, Berkeley, Sess and even Ricardo (don't know how to spell his name), all for a collectively low amount, plus the keeper, then we would have increased the overall quality/depth of our squad? We're all in agreement that the first 11 - 14 at least are excellent - it's the fringe players. A bit of tinkering instead of major surgery. Nice mixed metaphors!

It sucks but I certainly don't agree with putting a 6th placed finish on these lads just yet. The same people were probably saying the same last season with the transfers the other top clubs were making.

The shit Start meant we were adrift of the leaders from the getgo. Our second place finish owed everything to our performances from December onwards. Unfortunately we were coming from too far behind.

Would Lemar come straight into our first 11? Genuine question, don't know.
Back to the ITK still listening to jjetset saying the club are working hard behind the scenes. Long way to go. And not sure what Lacazette going to Arsenal has to do with us, nothing we can do about other teams signing players. We've Kane already and I know which one I'd prefer.
It's genuinely really difficult to improve our first 11 right now, I really doubt we will to be honest. I'd happily see the likes of Winks, Josh, Walker-Peters, Carter-Vickers and Edwards get some more bench/game opportunities. Oh and Sissoko sold as well please. Best we'll do is get some good squad players and I think we will.

lemar goes straight into arsenal' starting line up, but not guaranteed in our squad. on top of that they pay better wages. honestly cant blame him if he were to go there.

personally i wouldnt be too upset if we get barkley. the moment he iron out his inconsistency he will become a star, just like how rose blossomed under poch (my lord what a good word play).

We have heard the 'Calm down its way too early' too many times imo. With Zaha, Lemar etc off the table I cant even think of any other decent targets that we could get. Very disappointing news to wake up to.
