Gyid is on point, but not all over. Club frantically becoming very aggressive and clinical in their pursuits. I did hint we don't want another William.
A lot of these agents have no loyalty, or morals. They will string a club along, whilst enticing another club.

Midst all this, rats can be smelt a mile off. Btw, stop listening to this twitter twaddle;)

Thanks Herc, that sounds like good news on the club's attitude.

Also it makes me think of Poch saying we need "aggressivity" - one of my favourite Poch phrases...

Yeah but Southampton were in the Championship at the time, Bale was an International already... and it was 10 years ago! Even if the transfer market prices hadn't gone bonkers this year, 10 years of inflation would be a fair old whack.
That's irrelevant, he had first team experience which is why we paid the price we paid for a 17 year old. You can't expect to pay the same for a player who has never even sat on a bench albeit for a premiership team

I get that we're meant to take all ITK with a pinch of salt, but when all the top guys are saying the same thing it seems a bit strange to start thinking that we're not going to sign more players that we're happy with.
I'm sure we'll sign more players but the riskiest one seems aurier which is the one we need most and what we need 2nd most pacey attacker doesn't seem to be included in there so that's why even if Poch himself is saying we will sign players it's a bit hard to be jumping for joy at the minute. Hoping the club get the deals over the line and that there is one deal the media haven't picked up on which will answer all our prayers, if so the mood on here will be very good.

Danny Ings went to Liverpool two years ago for a maximum of £8m plus 20% of future transfer fees. That was after a season in the premier league scoring over ten goals.

Not like he's going to slot straight into our first team.
Risk £50m for a player poch wanted gone? Doubt it.

I'm sure we would have managed to find a buyer for the best RB in the league regardless.

The real question is would it have been so bad if we played hardball over Sancho? I'd much rather have Walker in our current squad than no one, and I'm sure he would be able to get over his "dream move" to City like Modric buckled down and carried on after he didn't get his move to Chelsea.

Thanks for the info, it's a shame we can't be a bit more aggressive and clinical in our pursuits a bit earlier in the window

When our manager nearly states that he's expecting gazzaniga + another 4, and an ITK who our lovely mods clearly are happy with (or else he would not post so freely in this thread with his news) such as @Hercules has been repeating that pretty consistently (unless I've misunderstood), I think we should all just breathe easy and trust that good things will happen.

Usually our manager gives very non commital, party line type answers, if Donna is letting him say that, fully knowing how bad it would look for it to not come to some level of fruition, then I say we trust the Demi-god, give or receive some cunnilingual pleasure, and chill the fuck out. I full expect at least a three new signings, though that's just one idiot's opinion of course.

I don't doubt the ITK or Poch, I'm just concerned that the clock is running out. Sounds like Aurier, Foyth, and Barkley are all agreed and we're just waiting for one final piece. Those could happen quickly, and with little fuss.

I just don't see us getting all three plus a game changer done.

I think the game changer was always a possible rather than a probable

It's astonishing that we didn't make Sancho part of the Walker deal, given that all the negotiating power was with us. We should have strung it out, if they didn't want to play ball. We had them over a barrel, for once.

Now, they've got their RB and are duly stringing us out, just like Everton.

It sounds like there is a cap on the amount you can pay in a tribunal situation, and that city value him above that. With that, I think we found it better to take it to tribunal and take a better price for Walker, that way we get more money and Sancho for cheaper. @Least that's my understanding from the Sancho thread.

The breaking point with Sancho wanting out of City was not being picked to go on their US tour.
Walker was sold before this.
We've obviously stepped up our interest now he's made it clear he wants out.
It's not astonishing, it's pretty straight forward if you think about it.

Thank you exactly the point I tried to make, but not as good. You'd think Walker was so toxic and horrible a player that City done us a favour buying him the way some defend us cutting Sancho out of the deal to get the sale through.

We were obviously interested in Sancho before the tour thing, and before we sold Walker; ITK earlier said Sancho was holding up the Walker deal, so we left it to pursue separately. My point is: we should have waited it out longer. No need to sell Walker that early.

Hindsight's great eh buddy?
How were we to know he'd even want out of city?

"Game changer" seems to be used out of context now. If you look at when it was first used it was applied to a particular player who we are told might suddenly be available again. I don't think it was ever meant to be used to describe the type of player we were after.

What if City gave us a deadline to make a decision? Hercules said earlier that we have to stick to a net zero spend to keep the banks happy. If the Walker deal fell through we would have had to sell someone else before we could sign anyone.
