I hope we turn a couple of these close/very close deals into done as soon as possible. We still have a pretty big list to get through, lots of different plates spinning, so getting a couple over the line now allows us to place greater focus going into the last week on the last bits. Couple off announcements today/this weekend would go a long way to making us all a lot more confident I'm sure.

Couldn't agree more. The more of these that drag into next week the less time we'll have for this sneaky big name bonus signing we're going to take a punt on.

IMO, if we end the window without adding pace and/or another option in attack that Pochettino can trust (*cough*Janssen*cough*), then I would not call it successful at all.

Even if we sign the 3 defenders, I look at that bench and can't see anything there that can drag us back into a game and get us a goal.

It's the one hole (before Walker was sold) that we could all see we needed to fill. Yet here we are at the end of August and there is very little to suggest we are prioritising that issue in our activity. I find it genuinely disappointing.

Utter horseshit.

We've all been here before and (should) know how it rolls :D

Expectation and hope builds to be followed by a massive crash when the window closes.

The "super buy" could quite literally be anyone. No point in even guessing because there's not been a peep from anywhere about who the individual might be. What is interesting though, is that there seems to be something of a consensus that there is a "big move" possible.

Which is nice.

No I won't. It wasn't in good spirit. This is the last post I will ever make on here. This place is full of idiots, and that includes a couple of the staff. I found it all very offensive.

I added an Optimistic rating just so you get the full shabang (y)

Mate, don't be like that.

I felt you took it all too personally, which is a trait which isn't needed on social forums.

Exactly, I can't believe how many people are getting sucked in. We have the same thing every single window when we're apparently close to numerous targets and we always end up coming up short. I think realistically we will get Aurier & Barkley (and possibly Foyth/Sancho as prospects) in but wouldn't be at all surprised if either or both of those fall through. This is the risk you take when you leave it so late.

Come on guys, this is spurs community. We know nothing about Hot Spur and what drive him/her to take the bait thrown. This was yesterday's news and to be honest it was quite funny to begin with but it's getting a bit old now. Let's not make this thread about taking the piss out of another fellow member but rather in the exciting ITK that's coming through.
We are a community let's keep it that way(y)

Exactly- and with both bits of info coming from Trix we know it doesn't include Martial

Exactly.

It's the seven stages of a transfer window.

Stage 1 - Reeling from whatever failure has occurred at the end of the previous season, SC lists all of the players we need to sign to make us great again. Such lists are fantastically unrealistic but will later be used as a stick to beat the club with nonetheless.

Stage 2 - Some club funded by a criminal oiligarch signs someone for 100 billion dollars. SC erupts in fury that we have not done the same, saying things like "I know we don't have the money but I don't understand why we don't spend the money!"

Stage 3 - An ITK comes along and tells everyone 'chill....we've got this'. There is a moment of calm. It is nice.

Stage 4 - We don't sign someone within 10 minutes of stage 3. Panic erupts. At least one SC poster loses his or her mind completely and leaves the site under a cloud of craziness.

Stage 5 - Someone says 'game-changer'. Everyone starts posting about how erect they are. A&C starts banning people...which coincidentally also makes him hard.

Stage 6 - Optimism reaches a thunderous crescendo as people talk about 'names not yet mentioned' and '3 or 4 more to come in'. Prayers are offered up to the Spurs gods. People start tagging igijedi for no reason at all. Normally someone is spotted at an airport. Basically all hell breaks loose.

Stage 7 - Jim White announces the window has closed. Spurs sign nobody. TVs across North London are smashed and Spurs Community descends into vitriolic word-violence against Levy, ITKs, Jesus and Piers Morgan.

Stage 8 - we end up improving on our league performance because our team is actually pretty good ...
