Exactly.

It's the seven stages of a transfer window.

Stage 1 - Reeling from whatever failure has occurred at the end of the previous season, SC lists all of the players we need to sign to make us great again. Such lists are fantastically unrealistic but will later be used as a stick to beat the club with nonetheless.

Stage 2 - Some club funded by a criminal oiligarch signs someone for 100 billion dollars. SC erupts in fury that we have not done the same, saying things like "I know we don't have the money but I don't understand why we don't spend the money!"

Stage 3 - An ITK comes along and tells everyone 'chill....we've got this'. There is a moment of calm. It is nice.

Stage 4 - We don't sign someone within 10 minutes of stage 3. Panic erupts. At least one SC poster loses his or her mind completely and leaves the site under a cloud of craziness.

Stage 5 - Someone says 'game-changer'. Everyone starts posting about how erect they are. A&C starts banning people...which coincidentally also makes him hard.

Stage 6 - Optimism reaches a thunderous crescendo as people talk about 'names not yet mentioned' and '3 or 4 more to come in'. Prayers are offered up to the Spurs gods. People start tagging igijedi for no reason at all. Normally someone is spotted at an airport. Basically all hell breaks loose.

Stage 7 - Jim White announces the window has closed. Spurs sign nobody. TVs across North London are smashed and Spurs Community descends into vitriolic word-violence against Levy, ITKs, Jesus and Piers Morgan.

Stage 8 - we end up improving on our league performance because our team is actually pretty good ...
Has also missed the Net spend argument, We are being taken over by some oil barren/American billionaire and overdraft has been activated stages. Then its all been captured

I know there was a hell of a lot more good info supplied, but I can't stop that from being the headline....

With deadline day rapidly approaching, I'm becoming increasingly worried about how our top targets are still up in the air as to whether or not there coming..

TBH if we could get Josh King for anything round £15-25 million and sell on Janssen for around the same amount I wouldn't complain.

I think Josh King has potential, and he's only 25; He's still got time to improve. He'd be a very solid player to be back up to Kane.

Appreciate the info Hercules.

It's going to be Josh King isn't it?! (n) The Italian info is very interesting but it does seem like it's all a bit too little too late kind of situation again.

The Balde info sounds spot on and should lay that one to bed. Poch is happy for a player who doesn't want to be at the club to leave, so why would he want to continue to pursue a player who has used us and will only come should his number 1 choice not get him.

Trying to find out updates against today's negatives. Feed back;

1. PSG to THFC RB still positive. As correctly reported paperwork legal s a bit fuzzy, but he has. Even cleared by the courts. Visa/permits etc, but more complicated than first imagined. If negative we will not be loaning out KWP, which would worry worry for me as I believe Poch may go with Tripps. Not sure if there is a back up.
2. Foyth we all know about,
3. RB we are very confident, and everything absolutely agreed. Chavs have had verbals to top our price by a little distance. But RB has ZERO interest in even reading what have to offer, much less anything else. He is already chatting to some of our players, and can't wait. Everton do not have much scope for us to increase bid. It is believed will go to DLD.
4. JS: I am gutted (if true) as those very, very close expected announcement today. As reports are suggesting, his heart is set on coming here. Asked if filth have rocked the.boat, and reply was 'no way, don't think so'. Whatever it is is between the clubs, and nobody is saying anything yet? So we have to wait.
5. Told RS, we were encouraged y the club to bid, but we verbally did, but not formal. It is my impression he only signed to make sure his club was very well compensated. He only (at this moment) wants to come to us. Waiting 12 months things can change with him.
6. Striker we spent s lot of time on is being a dick-head (Balde), and we moved on. Bournemouth have dropped their asking price for Josh King. We have a choice out of four (including him).
7. There is an outside chance on a player out of Italy I believe. Would possibly be loan with option to buy next season at a price of 40-50m Euros. We have irons in the fire in France and Spain for potential wing forwards that would put us back about 10m at a guess. If the latter happens VJ going nowhere.

Sounds slightly less positive.

'Complications' at this stage are never good so Aurier sounds much less likely.

Barkley going to deadline day leaves more time for it to go wrong.

Sancho seems to have suddenly fallen apart.

We don't seem to be in any rush for Sessegnon.

And then with the others it all looks like the same wild casting about at the last minute that we often see.

I am officially going into pessimistic mode.

I will be furious if we waste any of our precious, finite transfer funds on Josh King. Rest of Hercules' info is pretty positive though, cheers for posting.

My guess is we'll end up with lots of players with potential, but very little to improve the squad currently.

Also, Aurier's signing will only be to restore a certain parity after we weakened the squad in the first place by selling Walker.

Welp that is an update. Thanks Herc you've been a beacon in a very silent time here for itk. This close one would expect fires instead of kindling but seems we are set up for a fast and possibly disappointing last week of the window. Not saying doom and gloom, but time to sort out problems has pretty much passed. We'll have to see what the next week holds. I know we love value but our need for depth and as our CL draw just showed we need it fast.
