There has been a picking up of the rumours surrounding our Barcelona training camp being more than just that.
Add in Barca's reported turning down of a loan deal for Sandro from Betis (I think), plus the appearance of Puyol at Spurs training, then the clear drop off in Berahino rumours. Possible....
That said, there's another rumour now surrounding Marc Batra from Barca, known to be one of Puyol's agencies clients, and also a possible Fazio replacement???
We have a Fazio replacement already. Good player. Young. Homegrown also. Goes by the name of Cameron Carter-Vickers.

Since when are we in Spain?

Poch has said they were good boys lately so took them all on a mini break, even Jan is over so seems his injury isn't that serious.

Must be Sandro.

Id be happy with that
With the Puyol connection, a strong case could also be made for bringing in Bartra, Puyol's only official player so far. He's been linked with a move away, is 25 and can replace Fazio. It would question whether Dier is seen as a cb or cdm long term, though.

But why would he leave the Barca bench to sit on ours?

He doesn't get any games there, he is fifth choice, behind even Vermaelen (who is now back from injury).

Edit: We obviously don't trust Fazio, as Alderweireld is playing Europa and Cup games. Having a full backup line at CB would be extremely beneficial.

Vermaelen is always coming in and out because of injury and Bartra has had some game time for Barca over the last year or two, its not like he's had none.

The point is he wouldn't be getting more here bar a complete injury crisis. Wimmer will get games now and Verts might not be out as long as we first feared, although we've heard nothing yet.

If he's moving on I would suspect it would be to a team where he's getting regular first team football from the off - but you could be right, we might intend playing him more regularly than I'm guessing.

Sorry if already news, Puyol is in partnership with De La Pena for his agency. They were both over at Spurs weren't they. Surely their visit must of been mainly transfer related although I accept for other reasons perhaps too.
So Bartra? Who is Sandro's agent, does anyone know?
With the Barcelona visit also.
Too much of a conincidence, no?

I agree, I am just playing devil's advocate towards the possibility. I think he'd be more suited to move to, say, Schalke.

As per the itk, I don't know who else it could be besides maybe Sandro or maybe Caicedo of Espanyol (linked with Swans). Caicedo fits the Poch model of working hard.

I kind of agree with @Mr Pink - it does not make much sense to come back-up Alderweireld.

From Spurs perspective, it makes a lot of sense - Alderweield does not get many games off. For Bartra, not so much.

You could well be right mate, I'm just not so sure - but its possible we'd view him as a more able back up.

In short, I've no clue on this one!
