with the Danny Rose ITK it backs up how bad DL pays them, because I'm sure i read somewhere on the site that someone spotted him on the plane going out last week:eek:

it is worrying though, his body language on the closing ceremony looked like he didn't want to be there, but with his injury I expect it was painful having to walk on.

Just out of curiosity would our squad know if we were chasing a big name or not? Thought the details were kept in and around the committee?

This. I don't see Levy and Pochettino inviting the entire squad to a roundtable powerpoint presentation where they go over the transfer goals for the upcoming window.

IF Rose said this, keyword being IF. It's just his opinion. He obviously feels that Spurs is a big club now, and should be making the bigger signings. But I don't think he is in the know about who Pochettino and crew are scouting, no matter how senior he is in the locker room.

I would imagine the players knowledge is limited to his own contract and his best mates' contracts. Even then, most agents would do well to tell their clients not to discuss transfers or contracts with other players.

The only time a player has ITK is probably with a transfer that is done but not announced. Like when Ben Davies was training with the squad in the US for a week before he was announced.

You realise that in making this comment, you are your self falling victim to what you call a classic case of hearing what you want, and then you go on to invent what might have been said :D.
IMO, I believe there was a very large chance that one of the LBs would in fact be leaving this summer.

Which is why I wrote it more carefully than you read it ;).

"I doubt ... It's equally likely ... I'd speculate ... say something like ... Obviously I don't know..."

I often think that people read posts as if these kinds of qualifiers are filler, stuck into the sentences to improve the rhythm and flow, but without any real meaning. Not when I'm writing. Every one is precisely chosen, often changed or adjusted, to reflect the degree of uncertainty of the phrase that they relate to.

When I'm writing about affordable housing or development, you're more likely to see "I'm nearly certain ... experience has taught me ... no way will that happen ... can't possibly". But you'll never find "have faith ... absolutely certain .. what will definitely happen ... he's certain to leave ... we'll finish no higher than 6th...". 'Cause I don't think like that.

Looking at this pragmatically, if Rose suggests no big name signings are coming, how about Micheal Keane, Ross Barkley & Andre Gray. Hardly classed as international superstars, not from glamour clubs, but all prem proven, coming into the last year of their contracts. Would they fill the gaps in our squad, whilst also maintaining a strong home grown core.

Gray in Spurs would be an interesting scenario. With him being an Arsenal fan growing up and all. Decent player tho his choice of childhood club and stupid use of social media in the past aside

No thanks, he's not good enough and not young enough to seriously develop, I'd rather keep Janssen.

Sometimes they would yes. Whether or not they would be telling a complete stranger on a packed plane is another story altogether.

Especially when they have been asked to tap up the player we are interested in!!!

These types of ITK always amaze me. Speaking to someone on a flight?...not happening.

Maybe it is because i am not built for air travel. My knees are wedged against the seat in front of me, i have to fold my arms in because my shoulders are broader than the fucking seat, the arm rest is roughly an inch lower than my contorted arms/shoulers would allow me to take advantage of and i am probably wondering why someone won't shut that child up, while both hoping the fucker in front of me doesn't recline and destroy me knees and glaring at the woman who is built like an elf curled up in the exit row.....if you aren't going to even use the leg room of the exit row why the fuck are you in it?

How the hell could i hold a coherent conversation not laced with pure rage in that type of situation?

You shouldn't fly Ryanair mate...

i doubt very much that Daniel Levy, Poch and Danny Rose who has been injured since Feb had a meeting to discuss transfer targets and that Danny Rose would give that much away to a random stranger when he would be fully media trained to deal with those types of questions. Just because someone is young does not mean they wouldnt be a big name or marquee signing. We have had ITK that we was after a household name

Yeah... Also we've had an previous ITK's that Leandro Damiao, David Villa etc. are done deals...
