Belhanda and Vertonghen in the same team could be tricky for the commentators.

Yeah i've just seen he gave you a negative, give me strength............. Jospur wants to be careful he doesn't lose his access to the ITK Forums. if it continues, he will be and it isn't just him, there are a few other people who need to stop and think. Its taking the phrase 'don't shoot the messenger' to a whole new level.

Giving someone a negative rating for merely reporting the ITK, (something we urge people to do) shows a pretty poor understanding of what the ratings system is actually for and doesn't actually encourage people to continue posting ITK.

This part of the site would soon become a bit of a shitpit of there were no ITK being reported because one or two individuals lack the capacity to understand what isn't actually all that hard to grasp in the first place.

You're right that people shouldn't be putting off others from posting ITK by negatively rating them, but do red ratings matter that much? Welshie took it upon himself to give me 200 red ratings (admittedly I stooped to his level and returned the favour) but it proved one thing to me....if one person can go through all of your past posts and rate them 'dumb' simply to raise their red ratings doesn't that make them a meaningless reflection of that person's general input?

That's a bit of an extreme example which doesn't prove much other than that you and Welshie are a pair of rep-sluts ;)

Yes, the behaviour you cite would do that I suppose but luckily, only you and Welshie have gotten up to that. 'Normal' people have much lower numbers which probably does accurately reflect their input and anyway, some people care more about it than others.

Less is more or something like that.

If its putting people off of posting up ITK (and from comments i've seen it is) then it needs to stop.

As far as I'm concerned, anybody who gives a 'dumb' rating to any post is a complete bellend. Agree or disagree with somebody's opinion if you wish, but to call it dumb because you don't like it is.....well.....dumb.

Well he started it :cautious:

(kidding)

The worst thing to come out of it is that on my account info it says I've given out hundreds of negative ratings, which makes me come across as more of a prick than I already do. Prior to Welshie-gate I could count the neg rep I'd given out on one hand. I agree with spud.

lol, good guessing there.

1. We would have no chance of a one off £18m payment
2. If its £20m then the player is worth £20m and not £18m

Not at all. Simple business economics, innit? Buff's right.

18m given to them as 10m up front, 5m in a year and 3m over the next 3 years is much more attractive for their balance sheet and P&L than 5m now, 5m in a year, 2m each year for 4 years after and 2m according to performance, even though the latter earns the club 2m more in total.

It also allows them to immediately invest 10m in a replacement. And that isn't even taking into account they may need hard cash as the majority of football clubs do just to pay off debts. Remember we bought Crouch for 9m as it was virtually all in one up-front sum. Portsmouth took that rather than 14m that was offered by Stoke and Sunderland. Was Crouch worth 9m or 14m? (yes, there is an obvious answer to that question, but you know what I mean).

can we get the vertonghen deal rubbered stamped first before talk of a leandro deal or any deal for that matter? jesus this is dragging out, given our record with deadline deals.
