If true we could do a lot worse for 6 mill. I am sure that if we sign Parker we have been able to shift some deadwood and for me Parker is an upgrade on Jenas/Palacios/Livermore.

The interesting ting about this transfer is what kind of wages and contract length he is going to be on for us.

Just to clarify, I am not saying I think Livermore is deadwood, only that Parker is the better player right now. I hope Livermore gets a chance to establish himself this season. :)

if Parker plays like he did last season, he will be a hero at the club. At spurs he has to perform well otherwise there are far too many quality players ready to take over. Harry as we have seen with keano, Wilson, nicko..will drop players he signed if they are not cutting the mustard..

For the deal to be worth 30m he'd have to be on around 100k a week for 5 years, on top of his transfer fee. And he'd have to see those 5 years out. Stop exaggerating as always, Dan.

Readies' words:

"If you take into account the fee of around £8m, signing on fees and wages you're talking about a £30m deal.

"There is no way the club would sanction a deal for a 30-year-old who would have no resale value at the end of his contract."

'Just had it confirmed. Offer is for 5 million. No loyalty payments to Parker (Telegraph article refers) and no incoming loans'

Hope that is all it is. Seriously...Parker will be a useful player if he signs for us, but Diarra would make far more sense in the long term.

So if we're signing him, surely the total price of the deal is not £30m otherwise, as Harry said, the club wouldn't sanction it.

Good whoring! He only suggest the offer though nothing about it being done! Can't we at least give them Bentley!

Would be great to take thier best payer and then saddle them with Bents!

He's clearly not being bought with the 'investment' aspect at the centre of the decision.

Strengthening the squad more like, and if we get back into the top 4 due to the squad being stronger it will be money well spent.

He's been brought in for his character, to drive us on against teams when we are 1 or 2 nil down...probably would have made a difference against United come to think of it.

Might not be a better player skill-wise than Diarra, but his character will make up for it.

To back Dan up I rememebr seeing or reading the same thing.

However for arguements sake say that the deal is £5m, he gets a three year contract at £60,000pw thats another £10m. So were up to £15m even with signing on fee, bonuses and add ons and get see that going past £20m.

Still alot of money but will work out cheaper than Diarra albiet we won't get any money at the end, but if he performs for us like he did at West Ham he'll be worth it. Just thkn how well he played in that team imagine how good he could be with quality around him!

So when Redknapp says something you want to hear.... you believe him

Like I said, he'd have to be on around 100k over 5 years. Very much doubt that. And the fee will probably be a lot less than that touted. And if we bought Diarra for say 12m, you wouldn't be saying it's a 40m package, you'd be saying it's a snip at 12m. You just don't particularly like Parker.

Regarding sell on value, who cares? Not every player we buy has to have one. We have enough sell on value within the squad. If we finish top 4 this season, his lack of sell on value wouldn't have mattered.

Good singing if it happens imo he's a leader will never give up, he will want to impress to go to the euro's. Plus he is a Spurs fan. Just because he isn't a mega star doesn't mean he wouldn't be a good player for the club.

get one good season out of him, bring Sandro on a bit more, and some of the other youngsters then sell him back to Spammers next season for £8M.

It's always the same shit with you Ashcroft, writing off players you don't fancy before they've even kicked a ball like you did with Friedel, then praising Pav and slating JD and Harry in the same breath. We all know your tediously boring agenda by now, sitting hoping our most successful manager in Premier League history fails in the back of your mind and jumping on anything he says.

It's boring me to tears tbfh.

Personally I'm with Harry on this one. I just think we need some more attitude and backbone in the side. It improves the quality of the squad.
