Because the goalkeeper is such a specialist position I would be a bit uncomfortable bringing in that 19 year old solely to be our number 3. We ruin enough careers dont we? if he's as good as people are saying then he could well be competing for our number 1

Monaco are going down so I wouldn't be surprised to see us linked with their keeper Stephane Ruffier, outside of Lloris he's been the best around in France this season and they'd have been down long ago without him.

Good signing I think for nothing, will push gomes to either cut out the mistakes or he'll be dropped. Think bentley for lennon.

Was a very good keeper, however over the last year or so I have seen mistakes starting to creep into his game, and it seems like his age is finally starting to tell. Hopefully he proves me wrong.

I'm a big admirer of Friedel but knowing alot of Villa fans and their opinions that he has hit the wall this season im a little unsure of this move - especially on a two year deal.

My hope that if he does arrive, is that we stick our necks out and buy a young keeper with huge potential to push both Friedel and Cudicini for the No1 jersey with Gomes being allowed to leave.
