Quite possibly but if we have an option to swap VJ for CB and Poch thinks that it's an upgrade then why not? As I say it all depends on how expensive it is and if it stops us doing other things.

I think there will always be an element of opportunism to transfer windows. I doubt anyone thought Benteke would be available but perhaps now he is.
Benteke is absolutely woeful these days. At least there is an arguement for vj improving with time in the league. Benteke is just a one trick pony and his trick isn't even good. That would be a massive backwards step in my mind.

Honestly wouldn't mind benteke. However we've far more important needs to address.

FFS why can't we just go for a pacy wide forward, we're crying out for.

Reality is, we need 3-4 players according to Poch. The belief based on most of the ITK currently, is a RB (Aurier), CB (Foyth), AM (Barkley) and an unnamed WF/CF.
Hercules info suggests two are done, in theory Aurier and I'd guess WF/CF, given CB (Foyth) is ruled out as done/unimportant, and Hercules has stated Barkley is not fully resolved yet.
That only leaves one target to secure over the rest of the week. Doesn't seem quite such a big task now, especially if it is Barkley as Trix and co suggest most of the background work has already been done.
Suddenly seems like it's coming together.
Be positive.... COYS.

What I don't get how we can go from looking for a Martial & Keita Balde type forward to Benteke ffs o_O

Didn't we go from Mane or Zaha type to Sissoko last year?
This is what happens in last week of window, all "types" of players can go out window and we get desperate. Hope it was just opinion not ITK because would a shambolic use of transfer funds.

Fair enough, can't say I watch a lot of Palace so am more going on reputation which I thought was decent. He hasn't lived up to his promise but might be decent enough for backup.

Either way I'm not getting too excited until we get more news on this.

Benteke inquiry, nothing else. Highly doubt it would happen for various reasons. Origi is not just paper talk, but no offer. We have an interest at the right price. Adds to one of the possibilities under right circumstances.

No panic so relax. Not even biting nails time. Btw, Poch wants actually 4 more!;)

Aurier would have made a difference today.
Barkley may have made a difference today.
I'm struggling to see how Benteke would have made a difference today.

Had a convo with Micky Hazard and Ossie Ardiles a while ago (they were guest chatting at a pub down my way)
Barkley is THE one Poch wants and wanted done. So if his injury is ok and with the other ITK we had on him, I would put my house on one of them being him
