If we didn't waste millions on unproven players like Nkoudou and NJie we could easily afford to increase wages, prices that we offer for players like Lemar. Unfortunately we don't seem to learn.

Look I think we have to accepted at least for a year or two limitations, maybe we can't close deals with top names right now, the alternative is to continue looking at the future best players, the next Bernardo Silva, the next Dembele, the next Dele.

That makes Sessegnon so much more important as a deal, he is as close as you will get to a future top top level player. If that is our model fine, but if we can't close Sessegnon while City buy Bernardo Silva it presents issues.

We have a manager who works miracles with top young players, let's get him top young players then, they are cheaper and fit within our wages because they aren't yet totally proven. The model is good as Dortmund, Monaco and Atletico Madrid show, but to do that we need 1-2 top young players each summer.

Wanyama was signed 23 June, Janssen 12 July last summer so no idea why people are saying we didn't get them in early. They were both in for preseason training.

But like I said earlier. There was lots of positive itk saying we were getting these players in.

This season, bar really sessegnon and Barkley, there's been not much itk continuously linking us with a player and from previous summers that usually means that nothing is imminent.

There's an idiot on here by the handle GB 160 who is making a point of rating all my posts as "funny". Without any explanation as to why he thinks they're funny. Perhaps we should notify the local village that we've found their missing idiot.

Yep we wasted millions on those unproven players like Alli and Dier

Moved way past us in paying massive overinflated transfer fees and wages, not in actually building a team

The thing is our current model and subsequent recent improvment has to "plateau" at some point if we keep doing things the same way and the big risk is if it that plateau arrives before we start winning things.

If that happens we will start losing players and the only way is down baby!

I'm sure his therapist has just advised him to try and smile more when meeting strangers.

Lack of positive ITK doesn't mean that there isn't deal being done still. Just that the people with the sources aren't spilling, or even they don't know.

It's way too early to hit the panic button methinks.

ITK's have been saying it's nearly impossible to get stuff out of the club these days and some of the media today are saying we won't revel our signings until our new shirts are announced on 1st of July. Maybe media crap but we do seem to do surprises.

None taken, can't help but have a chuckle when posters on message boards seem to think they know where Levys going wrong and what what he should/needs to do....it'll never stop being funny so try harder not to be triggered by it bud.

It carried us to 2nd!!!!
We finished the season incredibly strong and seem to promise nothing other than more improvement.

And yet, you see that as an urgent need to fully change our business model?!? o_O

Yes I'm well aware of how well we performed and finished all I'm saying regarding the business model is that the club need to loosen the purse strings a bit.
If the itk is to be believed recently it hardly fills anyone with enthusiasm not that I really get excited in recent years regarding signings.
Again if to be believed it seems that we are struggling to bring in a 17 year old probably due to other clubs offering more, there is so much dough around these days that even the cannon fodder can spend quite big.
I love what has been achieved so far but I've noticed that some feel that we don't need signings but with the others starting to add to their squads if we try to stay with what we have i can't see it moving us forward.
We can't stand still or you move backwards and yes the season hasn't started yet but we are probably only 2 weeks away from pre season training and it looks like we are not even close on anyone.
Still despite all that I believe everyone concerned has the best interests at heart and look forward to another fantastic season:)

Obviously we've got some right, but the french wingers, Janssen, Fazio, Stambouli to name a few - none of them were top players and we took shortcuts.

Oh! Now it makes perfect sense - we should only buy the definitely going to be awesome unproven talent.

Given the potential profit we stand to make on a Dele, or a Dier, I reckon we cover the not so hot efforts.

Are you suggesting we only buy more expensive 'proven' players? 'Cos history shows they all work out...

:woot:

@Jcass3 in what way is that spam?

I am not going to trawl back through previous ITK but there was a few mentioning how hard it was to get information. We have had a discussion on the lack of activity and/or the lack of info so I pointed out this. If you disagree fine just click disagree. Spam is taking about something off topic totally like buying Guns and Rose tickets.

There is another thread about how spam ratings are now the spam on this forum, unless of course you accidentally clicked it in which case ignore this and no worries.

Surely the point is, when you're buying potential some players will be hits and others misses. We can't afford to buy ready to go superstars to improve our team, we're just not shopping in that market.

I wish people would stop implying that Sessignon is some sort of unknown quantity like Alli was. People were raving about him for most of the season.

He's not the cheap rough gem to be polished, he's already well known amongst the top clubs. Hence it could be a struggle to convince him Spurs are his best option.
