Not bringing anyone in sets a bad example to current players (makes them feel too comfortable/not being ambitious enough), a bad example to the manager (if he can't get his targets) and to the fans. So I expect we will bring somebody in.

But, its not looking good on any particular player or that we are near to completing a deal. In the run up to us signing Wanyama and Janssen last summer there was sustained positive ITK on both coming in. We haven't really had that about a single player this summer, which usually means that nothing is close to happening unfortunately.

You realise it's still June? Still plenty of time for things to change.

We've had very little positive player incoming ITK and a significant amount of negative itk ranging from missing out on players to players looking elsewhere. And it all seems to boil down to one thing, money. Money talks.

Where have you been lately? I can not think of one player we have signed over the last 3-4 summers where I would go "Oh jeeze, thank heaven we didn't get who we were linked with in June but waited until August and bought plan Z, that worked out well."

Yes but we could not all panic at the slightest hint of things not going our way every single day until the end of August?

Ive got a really bad feeling its the Goons with both. A massive 2 fingers to us if they can get our targets without CL

Wages is everything. What a sad state football is in

Also, let's face it. With Nacho Monreal as his competition, he'd back himself wouldn't he?

Hence why I said "So I expect we will bring someone in". I didn't say there was a panic, I intimated there's still time to bring players in. But we've had nothing to suggest we are that far down the line to expect any arrivals soon. Cant see it being in time for the first day of preseason training next week anyway.

Oh yes. I am so here for the SC meltdown

I said in the Walker thread last week it was all down to who paid the highest wages and we don't. Money definitely talks. But we still pay more than the majority of clubs so are attractive on that front as well as others.

Where does JJ's Info say that Sessengnon is down to money alone and why do we assume this? Could be other issues such as squad place/playing time or loan periods back to Fulham. Maybe another club has agreed to sign his brother also? Or secretly he's always dreamed of playing for Charlton!!

Coach with a strong record of playing youth players and getting English players into the national side.

London based.

It's more likely to be cash than anything else isn't it, or at least a key factor.

It does seem like we didn't capitalise on our first CL under Harry and we're repeating the same mistakes.

We have to keep up and start paying higher wages to ensure we don't start falling behind.

I'm not saying pay people £200k a week but we need to move our structure up in to the next bracket otherwise that new stadium won't be as full as our dear leader wants.

Bound to be because it fits in with our (SC) agenda and mood. I don't honestly know is my answer.

so far has Poch changed the way we operate? no so no I don't meant that

The way we operate has been pretty successful though. That is the point. I don't see any other team with comparable budgets to ours consistently challenging for the champions league places and more recently league titles

Not many youngsters that have made the decision to join other clubs rather than us have had largely positive experiences for example Walcott. We have a track record of developing young players and building their careers look at Bale, Walker, Rose and Ali etc. If he makes the decision to go elsewhere it's his problem not our
