If I was the player with a choice between Mourinho or Poch I wouldn't have to think about it. I'd take the best career choice rather than more money and Mourinho isn't the best career choice for a very young player.

Ordinarily yes. But he would have a much better chance of starting for them wheras with us he would be a clear understudy. When you factor that on with more money and playing for the biggest club in england it's not an easy choice

Let all the charlie big potatoes sort themselves out with Mdappy, James, Matic, Sandro and all the other big heads going for silly money. Let them spend in excess of £200 million or whatever whilst struggling to offload their deadwood.

I'm so happy we're not involved in all that nonsense. Stupid fees and wages being thrown about.

Seems to me a lot of people aren't happy until we spend £60 million on someone paying them 150k a week, regardless of who it is.

I think the latest first summer signing in recent years has been by the 6th July, with all relatively quiet be interesting if the next fortnight yields something

Also, let's face it. With Nacho Monreal as his competition, he'd back himself wouldn't he?
I agree completely. He could probably start for Arsenal and United next season, but he won't displace Rose at Spurs just yet. That must be a consideration. Unless we loan him straight back.

Devastated if we don't pull this off. Huge talent this lad

Could be - and probably am - way off with this one but what if Sessegnon actually wants to stay at Fulham as he knows he will be more or less guaranteed game time to develop his game? Perhaps we don't want to loan him out? Perhaps some of the other clubs don't want to either? I think I read some where that Jokanovic was determined to keep him at the club?

To be fair to Sessegnon it's a huge decision for him - choose the wrong club and all that potential could go to waste. So if he and his family are taking the summer to mull over things then I don't blame them.

I get your point as I also look through 'lily-white tinted' spectacles but for a non- Spurs supporting kid the chance to join Man Utd must be a massive temptation.
They are the biggest club in the country and potentially the biggest name in world football. It must be hard to ignore that.

Over the past two summer windows Spurs have been interested in bringing in both Martial and Batshuayi - at least according to ITK posts. We've failed to bring them in and they've gone to Man Utd and Cheksea respectively. And what has happened? Martial has become a bit-part player at Utd and Batshuayi looks like he's on the verge of moving again this summer, having been stuck on the bench for most of last season.

The smart move for an up-and-coming player of quality is to move where he'll be given a chance to play and with a coach and set-up that will allow him to develop. Is there a better club than Totenham Hotspur that can offer that?

There've been some fantastic talents that have moved too soon to the Utds of this world and failed.

It's not just about immediate money. It's about establishing a career.

Bale made the move to Spurs when Utd was sniffing around. And he's not done too badly...

To be honest I can't see him being brought in to be considered primarily a left-back - which should give us flexibility when convincing him to join. I think the main concern would be whether Poch will use him in the first team straight away.

Our experience with how we transformed Bale should be a huge selling point for him.

Absolutely agree with this. Unfortunately it's the voices of those around him that will need to have this logic. If they are sweet-talked by Mourinho or Klopp then that will always throw a spanner in the works unfortunately.

If I was a parent of a young player and I had Mourinho contacting me, well I wouldn't believe him because the way he's hung players out to dry before shows that he can't be trusted. But I know some ppl who love Mourinho so would take everything he said as gospel, it depends on what light you see him in.

The voices around Sessegnon are key. But agents are smart money-men. A good agent will be looking at the longer-term and how much money can be made for the Agency and the player over the life of a player's career. I think that most would agree that Spurs offer the best long-term opportunity for a quality player at this time - and have done for a good few years.

The smart career move for Sessegnon is a move to Tottenham Hotspur. Being a London-based team is also a draw that shouldn't be overlooked - especially for Sessegnon and his family.

Jesus.... Talk of possibly not getting Sessegnon, and this place needs putting on suicide watch.
Here's the thing, he's a LB and, according to the ITK at the top of this thread, Rose isn't leaving this summer, meaning Sessegnon would be third choice.
Look at it from the lad's own perspective. Unless we send him back on loan, he isn't going to see much of the first team if he comes to us (personal opinion), whereas maybe he sees better chances at United or elsewhere. I for one can see why he's taking his time to make his mind up.

As for early window business, we don't really know what's going on behind the scenes, and I'm not sure the rest of the squad do. After all, they're off on holiday for another week, while Poch/Levy and Co. still work to identify incoming players. You really think Rose is phoning Poch daily to find out what's going on??

Calm down people.... If you're like this on 26th June, what the fuck are you going to be like in 2 months time if we still haven't done deals, and have sold Walker, Dier & Kane (I jest about the last two)???

But we will be completely involved in this nonsense....the minute these teams throw around money like it's going out of fashion then selling teams put their prices up and players demand higher wages. The market value will be ridiculous this year hence why Everton want 50 mill for Barkley who only has one year left on his contract. Anyone who thinks by waiting around we will acquire talents for 10-15 mill may be disappointed. Football is slowly moving on money wise and we will have to adjust to it in my opinion.
