If Burnley accept the bid, we'll get exclusive access to him for the next 5 weeks to discuss terms

Liverpool might then move on to inferior targets like Benteke, which will worry the Ings camp

And once it comes to July, they will likely still end up having to pay the £12m for him.

We've ensured Liverpool have to respond with a match bid, or by walking away

But if Ings says 'I'm running my contract down and won't leave under any other circumstances' which is what he's obviously doing to ensure himself a giant signing on fee, Burnley can accept as many bids as they like but it changes nothing.

From the thread rulebook: Tweets from Journalists and reliable or 'official' sources can be posted in the individual player threads.

If you then come in here and announce the contents of the Tweet without naming the source it is exactly the same as if you were posting it in here. Exactly. Please don't do it.

Exactly my reading of it.

I think Liverpool will cave in and keep their powder dry for Benteke

£12m is just enough to make them think twice (but still an excellent deal for us). A very clever play from Levy/Baldini

Basically at £12m we'd be paying £2.5m more for 'Ings + Trippier' than the tribunal might make us pay.

Still a bargain.

Whilst Burnley generate £4-5m more overall for both, by circumventing the Trippier 40% sell-on.

That's their motivation for playing ball.

They show our £12m bid to the Tribunal and Liverpool have to match it.

Textbook Levy move if correct.

How many times? It doesn't matter.

The initial fee referred to in Rule 279shall be calculated by: 280.1. multiplying the applicable annual fixed fee (or fees) calculated in accordance with Rule 281 by the applicable number of years; and 280.2. adding thereto any initial fee (capped at such sum as would have been payable when calculated in accordance with this section of the Rules) paid by the most recent Training Club when it acquired the registrationof the Academy Player.

In Rule 280: 281.1. the “applicable annual fixed fee” means the fee set out in the table in Rule 282 referable to: 281.1.1. the age group of the Academy Player during any year that he was registered with the Training Club; and 281.1.2. the Category of the Training Club’s Academy during that year; and 281.2. the “applicable number of years” means the number of years for which the Academy Player was registered for the Training Club (subject to Rule 288).

Nothing to do with any previous bids whatsoever.

If that's the case I stand corrected.

Can only conclude Sky (or Burnley leaking to Sky) are making it up.

We're stupid, but we're not THAT stupid.

Oh good. Not only have we had zero ITK of any BS £12m move for Ings, but we've managed to construe that into paying £12m for Ings and Trippier in the ITK thread. Not only is that the most un levy thing to do, it is also against the rules of the ITK thread, as A&C has pretty much said about 3 times in the past i dont know how many hours. And yet, you people are STILL discussing it. Unreal.

It might be a joint bid for tippier, it might be including signing on fee, it might be bollocks.
I don't know.

Noted, I'd have posted in the Ings thread but involved two players so wasn't sure.

Maybe don't let it ruin your day.

I work with a Brentford season ticket holder and here are some of the highlights from our conversation.

"Big time Charlie"
"Thinks he's already made it because he plays for Tottenham"
"Doesn't track back"
"Lazy"
"Has real talent and promise however he doesn't show it enough or consistently"

If he is in the first team next year he is in for a rude awakening, I don't see Poch putting up with this.

I am a believer we it comes to Pritchard. :)

Ps. Eriksen should play in the middle as he is our best midfielder (y)
voted best player, rave reviews from most other supporters, sounds like you have a moaner for a work colleague

Jeez - that was amazing. What do you do for a living mate? I mean that genuinely - to come up with that word play in such a short span of time is extraordinary.

I twist other people's words to make them mean something else. I'll let you guess whether I'm (a) a politician, (b) a lawyer, (c) a journalist or (d) a Spurs fan with far too much time on his hands.

Anyway, I don't want to take this thread off track any more than I did with my references to hobbits, so back to JJ, Lord of the Ings' ITK. :cautious:

The current President of the United States is all of the first three, and a self proclaimed West Ham fan. Coincidence? Nay says I.

The minions are balls deep into getting A&C to loose his shit and go to town on some poor soul to help pass the time.

I'm sorry but it is purely going to come down to the players choice. IF you look at other players that have been through the same process the fee is rarely above 5 or 6 million. If Ings wants to go to Liverpool he will end up there as long as they pay the tribunal fee.

But if Burnley have received a bud from a club they can use that figure as bargaining at the tribunal. They can legitimately say that they hit a strong bid and that pushes up the final fee.

I believe bud is still not legal tender....
