Well if Harry is right about Mata (Levy thought he had got him) we clearly have money to spend and I would imagine that Levy intends to use it to bring in a quality player in that position.

I'm a little skeptical though about the "blow you socks off" mystery player that some people are talking about.

I believe we will sign someone on deadline day. But by no means a standout amazing world class player. We're not in the champions league, we dont have that pull - quite frankly, why the fuck would franc ribery or arjen robben want to join us, when they could both have bigger clubs offering better wages waiting at their doorsteps.

Seriously, it would be lovely to see. But I cant see it happening.

Before anyone mentions VDV. Ill put that one down to having a good relationship with RM and maybe he was 'offered' to us. VDV claims he could have chosen liverpool, but hey - they weren't in the champions league, we were. They were on the back of a bad season, and us good. Thats the way the cookie crumbles.

We missed a golden golden chance to sign quality players when we were competing in the CL. Opportunity missed..

seriously...this shit again? he's got the best track record out of itk and half the people here throw him under the bus. why even read itk if you don't believe him at all? ade made the most sense as blue the whole time and he confirmed that he was. yellow could have been rossi or leandro basically and he says leandro and you want to string him up for it. its not like he said its carlton cole cuz he has a yellow tooth.

I think people get frustrated as he/she? appears to have turned into a bit of a prima dona over the past few windows.
He used to be clear and concise but suddenly started going all cryptic and turned into, well, a bit of a diva really - or so it can seem from here.
As I say, it's just an impression of his character that people have drawn from his posts, fuck knows what he's really like or why he posts what he does, how he does.

To he entirely honest, he's only got himself to blame but then maybe he doesn't realise how his posts come across?

To all the posters who are waiting in anticipation for this BIG signing please stop believing everything you read, remember take with a pinch of salt.

surely you are bright enough to know that we have had more than 3 months to conclude such a deal. i cringe when i see posts linking Robben & Ribery to us, WE ARE NOT in the CL. WHY would such players come to us. i repeat there is no big signing on the way. i am not ITK, natural deduction tells you that.

i'm sure yellow is Rossi, or that amazing striker ( read any talent) at b. dortmund, or it is neymar. it could be anything really. the press 2 months ago mentioned his name. ITK on here and other forums have mentoned it. how is it that him mentioning it could have jeopardized the deal?.

in general i don't think itk comments will jeopardize deals. i guess in some, probably rare, instances it could though. its not our call though, he can say what he wants to. if you would prefer that he say nothing then don't pay attention to what he does say.

and adebayor was not reported as a major target early in the window.

as for rossi, bap bap was surely him, and yellow would probably have to be someone else because there is no reason to have 2 cryptics for the same player.

i think it is so easy saying don't pay attention when you then go on a thread such as the transfer rumour section and all that is being discussed is the B&Y thing. i know he is one of the more established ITK but i believe he should not have gone that route. in prior seasons he mentioned targets. i also understand that player transfers are sensitive and there are times we could be competeing with other clubs hence we keep it under wraps. i would rather they not go cryptic and just say nothing at all and we wake up to the signing of Modric or we get VDV on deadline day. no itk new about those deals.

I wonder if we are missing the point being made in the ITK - there have been a couple of references to BIG which people are assuming means mega star which is for all the reasons made unlikely - isnt it more likely to be refering to size - and also a few mentions of xmas as well

so we are looking to sign a seven foot santa or something close - apart from santa cruz who isnt massive and anyway has gone to spain i am struggling to put a name to it though :shrug:

On the bold bit, it's not just about jeaopordising the deals but also the anonymity of the source.

Let's say an ITK got their info from a member of staff who was privy to a discussion where only three people talked about Player X. If that name is suddenly released on the forum then Levy would, and I'm deadly serious here, discipline the individuals concerned, possibly to the point of sacking them.

The club have clamped down on leaks very severely and it is a matter of jobs being lost.

Hence why we respect the ITKs and cryptic clues are sometimes necessary. If we had announced Mata earlier in the summer then Levy/Spurs could have much more easily noted who said it and work out where a leak is, then plug it. Now, it's harder.

But, yeah, that doesn't explain why POTL used cryptics for players who everyone knew about already. :roll:
