Because we've been lucky with Kane maybe? He hasn't missed a single game through injury. We may get lucky for the rest of the season, we may not. To have no back up to Kane is shocking, with a potential 30 games left

We have Chadli.

We have Son.

We all want another striker, and I'm sure Poch wants one as well. But if the right players aren't available why buy someone just for the sake of it?

Just think about it a bit Millsey. Do you honestly think Levy is sitting there thinking about how he can mess up our season?

Cheers pal, but people only want happy things said about there club, no realism allowed it seems. Even if we all want the same thing. I want us to win the league, this season. If we can do that and play Europa and FA cup games with Kane as striker, then I'll be v happy

Why are we all clamouring for a cf then? Why is Poch trying to get Dembele now or not at all if he happy with Chadli and Son? Levy has made mistake in the past you know, with all the good things he's done for us. It's like I'm the only one wanting us to sign a CF

After seeing how Son have performed as a striker lately im not all that worried about us signing a striker. Especially of it's any kind of stop gap.

If you made even a token effort to read my post you'd see me say that I want us to sign a CF.

But I don't want a striker for the sake of it if he isn't better than what we have.

It sounds like Poch has the same view. Can't really see how you can't see that.

Not sure if this has made it on here. Trix in the Dembele thread:

"Nothing has changed, they still want to get a body in first. They have been struggling to do so which is why they want the loan back. Think this will happen either way but may be a late one. Everything financial and medical is already in place so it can happen quick"

Also on questions about us being busy tomorrow:

"Well this will either happen or it won't. Barring a huge back down from Peace nothing else will happen tomorrow"

I agree with @millsey on this. The only difference is that I think the big mistake was not bringing another striker in the summer. Once that window shut it seemed incredibly unlikely that we would sign someone in January...we rarely do.

It's not just about Kane being fit, it's about being able to rest him from time to time so that he doesn't end up being run into the ground. I don't think it's a case of some fans being precious or just wanting us to splash the cash either. It's perfectly reasonable to expect a football club to have more than one official striker in the squad.

That is a very fair point.

So the question is will Poch use the likes of Chadli in that role enough to give Kane a rest when he needs it. We're going full tilt in three competitions now.

If he doesn't then it begs the question, whilst he can be relied on for emergency cover -or so it appears, does he have enough confidence in him to use him regularly enough to rest kane? People need to remember its knock out in the Europa League against stiffer opposition and we're now into the fifth round of the FA Cup. We're entering the business end of the season.

Not easy to get a similar forward, even of a lower quality, to that of Kane but there is no doubt about it that this year sees a very good opportunity to really go for winning the league.

We don't want to add players we're not entirely convinced about - that I totally get. But I do wonder why we havn't made it an absolute priority in all honesty.

Its just the amount of games I worry about coupled with the fact that Poch's teams in the past have faded at varying points through the latter parts of the season given the style and intensity his teams play at.

But if he intends to use Chadli quite frequently to give Kane a break then that's great obviously. Hope we don't run Harry into the ground and that sees us fade badly in the run in.

Of course we do.. though better the right striker than someone that we would have to offload in a seasons time.. I get your frustration.. I for one think an injury to Eriksen would be as harmful as Kane getting injured.. at start of the window I thought it would be near on impossible to get a striker that would improve us & by that I mean give us not a like for like for Kane but someone we could bring in to play with Kane when teams shut up shop & we need a goal.. a poacher type who can play a bit.. not many of those about.. My ideal window would of been to match Gotze release clause & bid for Jerome Sinclair of Liverpool.. now we could of been turned down but at least it would of been an effort to get what the squad is lacking.. someone with a killer pass & striker with movement in the box

I want us to sign a CF, most on here do, but like most on here, I want us to sign the right striker, which is one that Poch wants and it seems that Levy is backing his manager on this.

Seems to me like you want to go back to the Redknapp days of signing anyone just for the sake of it

Again what makes you think it's now or not at all.. if anything it looks more like we can't get our prime targets, so we are buying for the longterm

The Kane burnout point is a worry for next season too, with the u21s last summer, this season, then the euros he will have played an awful lot of football in 12 months. We can't afford to have him missing next season either, especially if we want a CL run (optimistics pls)

I like the news of MD 2, but he's not going to get game time for us in the second half of the season, realistically.

I don't want is to sign just anybody. Just think with the new scouting team,'Mitchell ect, we can have more than one alternative after 2 Windows. Let's say the worst happened and we lost lloris in the summer, would everyone be ok if 2 Windows later we hasn't signed a top keeper because we couldn't get in the one target Poch wanted, so we stayed with Vorm?
