That's all good and well if there is discussion about itk going on in here. Or if the RO thread got updated with any degree of reliability. There isn't. And it doesn't.

God you lot are so desperate for ITK that all reason flies out the window. Just out of interest…….Any of you worrying about ITK so much that you're struggling to give the mrs/significant other/sheep a portion?

This off topicness stuff is a constant niggle for some, (including my good, well hung self) I understand that, but at the same time what everyone has to remember is that we can't keep everyone happy. We just can't. When ITK is quiet, there's a bit of leeway given with the off topic stuff but when there's been ITK we try to stay on top of it, but even then its hard. If we were to start banning anyone who went off topic at all, pretty soon there'd be nobody left. That's not to say people don't get banned for it, they do, but when the cirumstances dictate it, such as spamming straight after being asked not to, persistent spamming, the stars aligning just right or me being in a poxy mood.

We also rely on people being sensible, although i've learned over the years that in here, fat chance. I wish there were an answer that would make everyone happy and feel like they were running joyfully through fields of daisies and cowpats…... but there isn't one. There are always going to be a number of posts that are considered, or actually are, off topic.

So I genuinely apologise to the anti-spamistas, I feel your pain but in my case that's offset by the fact that I also feel your mums

PS: As a special offer, today I will allow any post slagging off Daniel Levy as a philisophical poke in the eye to the BSoDL, whose response will be treated as spam and the perps banned

Sometimes that's the case, but last summer it wasn't updated regularly, there was a lot of stuff in this thread that didn't always make it to the RO. So it's not just a case of simply using one thread or the other. I can understand when people get frustrated, when they log on to SC and see another three pages on this thread, and think there is probably some interesting itk then come in here and it's just three pages of off topic drivel.
