We have a real shot for the first since rednapp was in charge. Overall we are in good shape but we need another striker. Oi levy make it happen. It's alright saying "he can fill in here, or poch can play him up top if Kane gets injured"

We need another striker, as much as I like chadli and son there is no substitute for a strikers instinct
Alli has a strikers instinct with his movement & finishing ability.. if we can't get anybody in then that's where a coach comes in & I have confidence that the coaching staff that they have noticed that & whoever lines up on paper as a striker knows & will have been worked in training & they can go out on matchday knowing they are not left isolated. looking at our possession stats there's no need to panic.. if we are under pressure & the main forward can't hold it up then you use your head & say who can we give it to up there & give us 5 minutes respite to turn the game.. my answere would be Dembele.. if we were under pressure you use what is best suited to the teams needs & it doesn't have to be for 90 mins just when needed..I'm blabbering.. my point been do we not all see the job our coaching staff have done.. then trust that

I wonder if you mean Hakim Ziyech? he's certainly known for his technical ability.
Yeah that's him. ball glued to his feet that lad.. have watched a lot of Dutch unders games the last couple of years & there's a kid that was playing for the under 17 Nouri & has been rushed to Ajax U-21 squad.. tiny little kid but the most amazing passer of a ball makes scholes look like a novice his vision is ridiculous

Many people including Poch would be happy to have a striker, however many also understand that if it si not the right striker then we shouldn't buy and wait till summer. Like Poch. We have Son and Chadli.

FAQs - If Poch really trusted Son or Chadli why wouldn't they have played at all this season to give Kane a rest or start against Colchester or why would he want Dembele now? In the 3 games I can remember Son starting alone uptop we won 3-1, 4-1 and 2-0. It doesn't matter who scores as long as the team wins. Maybe the reason they haven't played every game is because, as people are aware a top striker is rare and has many benefits, and so we try and play our one whenever we can. Poch has also started Eriksen in these matches where people believe a 2nd option striker could have played, e.g against Colchester does that mean he therefore does not rate Son/Carroll/Onomah or any of our countless other players that could have played in that position. No it's because he wanted to make sure he won the match. Why has Wimmer received so few games, is it because Poch does not rate him? No it's because Vertonghen has been playing well and he wants to maintain consistency and win as many games as possible without making unnecessary changes. T

But the striker position is specialist, we need a back up striker to come in and do that job can Son/Chadli/Njie?
What job exactly holding the ball up and closing down? This is exactly what I've seen people suggest as reasons to buy a back up and have thought of everyone and anyone like Shane Long.Iif we get a striker surely this specialist striker should specialise in the main skill a striker needs, scoring. Otherwise we could just throw Winks to run around a bit. Most strikers suggested scoring rates are no better than Son's in the Bundesliga for the last 4 years, and in comparison to our other rivals, the next best 2nd striker is probably Danny Welbeck who has a very similar scoring record to Chadli in the prem. Ignoring the settling in period and gamble any signing is, what loan or 2nd striker can we get in this window that will have a better than 1 in 4 scoring record.

How can there be no suitable strikers in 2 windows? Well our scouts who actually get paid and have time to search the globe have not found a suitable striker who we can get so evidently there is not the right player. It is possible

But we need to look to the future. if Kane plays all these games won't he be knackered at the start of next season? No as there will be another transfer window before next season starts, where we will then have the opportunity to buy a new striker to have a preseason and settle with the squad. Kane could then have a rest.

What happens if Kane gets injured? Injuries can happen, it's football. New striker could come in and get injured straight away adn we'd be left with Kane anyway. Liverpool had about 3 strikers injured at one points I think. We believe one of our 3 options can cover. A backup striker won't improve our chances of winning a title or finishing unless they are a top class one as they won't match Kane's scoring rate and again most likely won't match Son's or Chadli's. Kane will also most likely play all of the games even if we did have a back up striker as we want to win all our matches. So it won't make a difference. Poch will have to integrate them and they will have to learn the press and increase fitness. So even if Kane got injured I don't believe bar say Berahino who has PL experience I don't believe there is any striker available that would carry on Kane's work and take us to the title or replicate his output. He also wouldn't have gelled as much with the team so could actually hamper us compared to if we played Son and Chadli rotating up top

That's a brilliant post mate.. add-in from my experience muscles tend to tyre when you rest for to long after n intensive period... so much of it is mentality.. you can be in games & go f*ck it I'm wrecked or F*ck it I want to win this more than you.. you have to keep a rhythm

I think it's fair to say that if in over 18 months of looking we haven't been able to identify one attainable striker who can play in a Pochettino team, then our scouts need a serious kick up the backside.

I don't buy this notion that Pochettino has Goldielocks syndrome and will only agree to the perfect player. One of his greatest strengths is bringing out the best qualities in players who have rough edges. He turned Ricky Lambert into a bloody England international and that says it all!
It does say it all. But I am fairly certain it doesn't say what you think it says. Lambert may be limited, which I believe was your point, but the statement being made is that perhaps you overestimate the quality of the England team at that time. Always more than 1 way to interpret things.

Also Messi and Ronaldo seem to do ok playing every game.

It's all about the mentalilty of the player and Kane has that in abundance!!
