He comes across as someone who works for the club fairly high up, who gives out info when he can that wont endanger deals.

Nah he's nothing to do with betting. In fact he's been pretty coy on the management front when it would be easy for him to say "Deschamp's our man" or something like that. Plus the players he's said in the past were definitely coming, actually did.

Also from what I can remember he's been a poster on here for ages and the info was initially coaxed out of him.

Moneyball, a book by Michael Lewis examining the use of statistics in baseball to devise a cost-effective and successful team.
The Liverpool lot are into it too, although they appear to have missed out the cost-effective bit.
It's a cracking read (as is all of Lewis's work), i've not seen the film.
