If we sign a very solid AM/LW before the window closes I will change my tune significantly. Just have to wait and see I guess

It would be terrific if we could bring in a nailed on starter this window. The Club has a very deep squad - but only eleven can play at one time.

Goat's latest.

Can't see that being Pochettino's choice unfortunately. Must be Levy too scared to cash in now thinking he's going to reach world class level. Which he's currently nowhere near but I suspect that's what this is about.
Or it could be that TW does not want to go, where he is allowed to do, being under contract. You could be right but why blame Levy?

Maybe we won't part with Andros because they haven't offered enough for him. This has got last minute written all over it.

I don't typically post but love to read the itk and watch you lot go bananas over hype and uncertainty.

Fact of the matter is this team is built as a business and should function as a profitable business. I think all of our links to certain players match the ambition of our club but when it comes down to it, Levy makes sound investments. In the scenario that he is getting screwed, he will nickel and dime his way to make the most he can, getting us into a position to make these moves. I think this signing is a great one based on value (5m is nothing these days especially if you realize that Hutton was 2x that, Bentley was 3.5x that, and Soldado was 5x that).

Call me an optimist or naive but it just seems like we are gonna pull off some serious VDV like bargain move, and most likely for a forward. The market changes a lot on the final day and we are most likely going to see our exodus of current players then (last year levy lined up the deals for buying and then sold the players). The only player I can see us selling and losing any value on would be Paulinho, but everyone else well make a profit.

Overall great window and keeps my toilet time beyond enjoyable with Trix's itk. Regardless I think we haven't seen the end of this window which will hopefully be looked upon as one of our best in recent years.

And yet Everton annihilated their transfer record without any significant sales, and they are notorious for being cheap.

We're seeing nothing of the tv money. The rate we are funneling funds away for the stadium you'd think we will be paying up front in cash. Yet no doubt there'll still be massive naming rights and finance involved...

Fellaini money from last year, they got £27m for him and didn't spend it. That's where they got it from. Sorry off topic, just thought of answer!

Before the poch era people would have been similarly dejected with links to MS as they now are with that new Italian food sounding fella whose name i cant be arsed to look for a spelling. As usual in here (insert any number of players in here) has gone from who?? to a sensational player who if we dont sign Levy needs sacking over the course of 50+ pages in a thread.
I suppose we could just pay over the top to get these players that we here poch wants above all else, i mean it worked for Portsmouth and leeds....................................................................................oh wait!!!

Seriously though its easy to say just throw a couple more million at it to get it over the line when its not your money, Levy is running the business, he has to answer for the money he spends

The Spag Bol deal is being struck on the 30/08/14, 2 days before the window shuts. Fiorentina had a bid accepted and it seems to me we had to match it to get the deal done otherwise he would be on his way to Italy.

He seems cheap at £5m but he has only 1 year left on his contract, with 3/4 years left we would be talking a £15m player here at least. I read somewhere that Newcastle were quoted £16m before they brought Cabaye.

This Stombouli deal has just left a sour taste in my mouth, in how typical of us it is.
I don't know and neither do you, what takes place in these negotiations, financially or otherwise. Have you considered the fact that AT may not want to go to Soton? In all honesty, how much do you know about BS and MS that you are getting your proverbials in such a twist because we signed one and not the other?

MS may have been unobtainable despite our best efforts and I for one am glad we had a Plan B. If we had not signed BS I would still be content. BS and any subsequent signing is a bonus in my eyes. What I learned from last season is to keep my expectations real!

To be honest , not too fussed if we get MS or not .
I think we have enough good players to do without him.
Capoue second season he will be a monster for us, come a few months into the season everyone will forget about MS .

No one is telling DL to do a Leeds/Pompey, we have plenty of dead wood to move on to almost pay for the players Poch wants, for one reason or another we haven't done so yet....i think Monday will be a very busy day for us.

Over the last few windows we all know we have all but balanced the books regarding transfers, plus in the Leeds/pompey era, clubs didn't receive the kind of TV money we are getting today, so the comparison with those clubs is abit off the scale imo,
All we need is for mr Baldini to start shifting players Poch will not use, and DL to realise he might take a hit on 1 or 2 of them for the sake of giving Poch what he wants and thus giving him the tools HE requires to do the best job he can, where possible that is.

Find that very odd we wouldn't part with Townsend. For me that would have been a no brainer. Odd
We have a plethora of CM players and are already weak depth wise in the WF positions, so frankly us not letting Townsend go makes perfect sense.

If Pochettino wasn't happy for us to abandon the Schneiderlin chase and move for 'target no. 2' on his midfield list, we'd have been doing this on deadline day after a last-minute roll of the dice for Schneiderlin, not 3 days before deadline day.

Looks like we're moving on relatively quickly from first-choice targets this window if they're not happening. We're also moving for relative unknowns who aren't on everyone's radar. Tells me Baldini, Broomfield, Poch & Levy are all working very well together.

Chill out guys.

Yes clubs then didn't get the TV money they do now but conversely the players were a lot cheaper.
