hughton on nike deal: The deal is for 5 years is what I was told. There may be some other factors in there that have resulted in the multi year term, but that what I heard.

£50M minimum to move on a player that wants to go, in a position we already have a ready-made replacement for, is fine with me.

It's a shame it would be to a rival, and we would need a replacement for when Trippier can't play, but in comparison to other big names leaving our club in the past, this would be the most painless for me.
I'm thinking that the Walker leaving situation is, hopefully, going to be reminiscent of the time when Judas left us. Initial angst at losing a World class player, only to find we had better in the wings with Ledders.

Everything I've seen or read about KWP leads me to believe that this could potentially be the case, the difference being that Walker isn't going to the scum and we're the ones doing the rinsing.

Early doors obviously, but the signs are promising regarding the boy.

Really in a good place? Selling 1 or 2 players for the next few years. Similar to what I heard and ranted privately to some.

You intentionally ignored the "not at the expense of being competitive" part then?

Colour me surprised.

Classic spurs.

First we get top of the line kit deal statement (Good cop) followed by essentially 'don't expect any sexy first team signings' ITK (bad cop),.

Daniel Levy said "the new stadium won't have an impact on transfers"

See now Levy is a genius. Best chairman a club could ever and will ever have. So one can't say what one is thinking or even whisper anything negative because excuses will be found by his sons. The man could literally slit the throat of a sack full of puppies, youtube it, appear on TV performing a song and dance routine celebrating it and still get the RSPCA man of the year award.

There is literally no allowable or justifiable complaint. And if it all goes massively tits, i'm wondering who is the poor sap that will carry the can because one thing is for sure. Our very own Toulouse Lautrec won't be.

I see you gingers, or should I use your acronym ADUO (Adrian Durham's Unwanted Offspring), are going to be gorging yourselves on that little tidbit of ITK.

Remember the salt during your little beano won't you?

Am i right in thinking there's a legal obligation for the club to announce this sort thing as well?
I don't think so. The club no longer publicly trades its shares (as far as I'm aware) so any such notifications can be made privately amongst the shareholders.

If the Club traded on the AIM (which it used to) or the FTSE, then any merger/takeover proposals must be notified to the Market as well as the shareholders.

If Levy went out and got absolutely sloshed and then drove his car into a wall, the sons would say the pub shouldn't have sold him the beer and the wall shouldn't have been there.

While the gingers would want him sacked for buying beer instead of Champagne...

Challenge to BSoDL Accepted.

It is not obvious that spending large sums of money on transfers guarantees success on the pitch.

It is obvious that since Joe Lewis bought the club and DL started to run it, we've had the best run of success since the early 1980s and the foundations for the club to enjoy continuing success have been laid in the form of a great academy, a great training centre and what we all hope will be a top class stadium.

More than that the football played over the past two years has been delightful and at times breathtaking. The current team is the best I have seen and the first Spurs game I saw was in August 1961.

Lewis and Levy are doing something right.

STOP IT!!!

That is NOT part of the ADUO manifesto...

People just have to have something to moan about.......... que serra:whistle:

If we'd won the league and the FA cup, supplied all 11 England players that win the World Cup and lost in the final of the CL people would still moan.

There's them that think glass half empty and those that think glass half full.

And there's those who have a glass but want a Diamond encrusted goblet...

Paid for by the club of course.

What if they don't?
Who say's we aren't?

Who say's we are?

We aren't going for the title, just like we weren't last season or the season before.

Real didn't make any waves last year. Miraculously their season turned out ok...ish. That we need to make sweeping changes year upon year is a myth perpetuated by those who benefit most from it.

You base everything on the supposition, not fact. Please don't tell me that you're actually naive enough to think that Levy is going to sit around with his thumb up his arse until the last week of August and panic. It isn't a true or fair reflection of him or the club under his stewardship.

Just because we don't know what is going on, it doesn't actually mean that nothing is going on. Over the last couple of years, it is more and more apparent that we don't leak and this gets spun as inaction. That then generates greater hype about any player linked with the club which in turn generates revenue for the advertisers of the site posting the story.

If you don't think it's true, just as an experiment, anyone who has viewed a story about Spurs on a commercial website or placed a bet on a potential transfer should rate my post 'doh'.

I know I'm probably going to be dismissed as a BSoDL but I run a startup who are trying to work with the club (and many others) and so far Spurs have given no impression that they are lazy, naive or sluggish.
Post of the window.

In a way Poch is here at the worst time, for him and us.

Imagine if we'd had the stadium done five years ago and it was mostly paid off now, and Poch joined us with no restrictions. The things he could achieve.

In contrast we're looking at the best manager we've had in our lifetime having to compete against teams with infinitely more available resources, while he has to contend with two stadium moves in two years and the now announced inevitability of losing some of his best players in the near future.

I feel for Poch.

I like the way as well the statement contradicts itself by saying we're hell bent on keeping the team together, but we'll be selling players yeah? Right.

Because I do not buy everything the club says at its convenience.
No, you buy every negative slant from ITK as though it's gospel but question anything positive.
The post you referred to had the ITK ending that we are in a good place as well as stating that our intent is to remain competitive.

Did you highlight that? No.
Did you balance your post with both positive and negative news? No.

Should I go on?

A bit Spurs tinted on the Campbell/King situation. History will show that Campbell left us for nothing and went on to win multiple trophies with Arsenal whilst we languished in lower mid/table. As much as I love Ledley, despite his natural talent he actually acheived very little in his career. You write as if Campbell leaving was somehow a blessing in disguise and allowed King to emerge, when the reality is that Arsenal shat on us from a great height and it has taken till now, some fifteen years later for us to bridge the gap in the league. Sol Campbell was part of a side that went a season unbeaten, as much as I loathe him as a person he was a great centre back who had a very respectable career at the very highest level. If Walker leaves us and goes on to help City dominate the league instead of us, I will certainly not see it as a blessing.
