I think the reason people may sound a little apprehensive in their comments here is that it seems like the ITK has gotten a little less optimistic and a little more realistic as this window has opened and progressed (albeit a very short amount of time). This is in no way a criticism of the ITKs as we all very much appreciate them sharing what they hear. But for instance, Herc sounded very very optimistic in early May (update 11), sharing info that Spurs will spend more than $150mill that does not rely on sales, and that they wanted three priority signings in early, possibly four.

In update 18, Herc shared info that said "We are willing to sanction those deals (if they can be done relatively quick) before selling." So people started to think that the $150mill wasnt net spend so that put a bit of a damper on things.

Today he shared that the team hopes to get two (instead of three or four) in before August (although he did say "at the very least"). I just think the word "August" is what most people saw and got a little worried because that is after the World Cup and two months away. Yes it could be before that, but it seemed like getting deals done early meant before the WC.

I would guess that some are hearing this info (including me) and are wondering if this is Levy backtracking on his promises to Poch and if Levy just can't help himself by waiting and stretching things out to get a better deal. I think there is also maybe some bad luck at work here as for instance it sounded like Sess was on as long as they didn't get promoted, and well, they got promoted. DeLigt seemed to be on as well but then other bids got up near $70 mill and Spurs are priced out (which most would agree is sensible on their part). It sounded like Toby would be sold for a good price and now it sounds like they are having trouble there. So maybe a combo of Levy's history of stalling plus a difficult market is affecting outlooks here. Sounds like they had big plans but have had to adapt those plans a little due to things they can't control.

I think a big signing in the next two weeks or so before the WC starts would go a long way to making fans feel optimistic. For instance, if even just one of Martial or Pulisic or whoever is finalized and announced soon, then any anxiety of Levy being Levy would likely go away. If nothing happens before the WC however, well then things get more worrisome.
This is what sanity sounds like

Why are you so hell bent on reading the worst in to everything? Maybe after all the good the club has done in recent years it’s time to have faith it might get things right. Or at the very least, no be passive aggressive to those of us who do dare to imagine things are going well and the club knows what it’s doing.

You are confusing being very, very funny with being “passive aggressive”.

I’m sure the club will do right this window - no doubt that must have been assured for Poch to sign his deal. I do, however, think we need to not dilly dally again - as that’s what results in us signing pseudo footballers like Llorente and Sissoko. We need to capitalise on our amazing progress, especially as we move into a huge new stadium. An exciting transfer window will make a massive difference when it comes to the atmosphere for the first few games at NWHL - though one would hope the fans would be verging on feral at the new stadium regardless.

I am certain we will act a lot quicker than I sarcastically intimated I thought we would. I thought it was pretty clear that my tongue was in my cheek when I said I expected 200m spent by the World Cup.

is DL using those under-promise and over-deliver tactics again?

Why are we prioritising two more offensive players though?

CM, and another CB, shirley???

Still don't understand why all these offensive signings are viewed as so vitally important. I don't think we're serious about addressing our real issues in midfield. I'm expecting a back up type punt at best there.

It's going to be the same for everyone after the top end players unless they throw silly money at it one way or the other.

Apologies for misreading your tone in that case, easily done with the current unwarranted swarm of negativity on SC.

It is mental, isn’t it? Like a form of online auto-cannibalism. I think we sense we’re close to something special, but years of conditioning are making us edgy

FWIW I think Poch would like to have the new players ideally available for the trip to the States. Bed them in (ooh err) to the squad and also integrate them with 'the group'. That would be an ideal imo. So by the 3rd week of July, which is also before August.

Dont think we can rely on Eriksen or Alli dropping back, both would be vulnerable to a high press- besides the former needs to be slinging those cute crosses into the latter and Kane from higher up the pitch. Sign a fkin world class, deep-lying midfielder Levy.

Not another Nfkin wide man.

After James Rodriguez, you’d have to be completely mindless as an agent to deal before a WC now. Honestly it’s not that hard to do the math:

July 15 = end of WC
August 9 = end of transfer window
Time in between = WHEN EVERYTHING HAPPENS

It’s the same cycle every year except this year we get a WC and the window closes earlier. The logical response would be enthusiasm, but then again we all know logic is the last consideration of any transfer forum.

Alternatively, if your player didn't go to the world cup you would possibly want to deal now as they may become less in demand come July.
