Yeah, I'd read Mitchell to Leicester and Mackenzie to Derby.
So we need a new head of recruitment, and potentially a head of talent identification. Unless they get one person to do both.

Interesting to see who the early favourites are. Assuming Mitchell does stay to the end of the window, don't think there'll be a rush appointment.

History tells us, we'll be linked with multiple European based names. Usual suspects like Sevilla's DoF, maybe Sporting or Porto's too.

He has a 5 mill euro buy out fee, his contract with Sevilla doesn't expire till 2020. I read that he's stressed out with having to be the everything man for Sevilla.

I dont think the Mitchell news is necessarily damning. Getting poached by a smaller club means he'll likely be handed more responsibility especially where teams require and can afford to bring through more unproven players than where we're at now.

As has been pointed out we already have a settled and extremely talented young squad which only needs a few gems added where possible, whereas you can see a team like Leicester needing an overhaul in a years time (presuming all the big names leave after their CL adventure).

It's always a shame to lose talented staff and not least for the feeling of instability. But we have a pretty robust framework in place from Poch to McDermott and Mitchell must have already identified a few years' worth of potential talent from all his late night Football Manager sessions, sorry i mean ' black box ' :sneaky:

This is a concern. Can't help but feel we are not building on last season. Perhaps they have had enough of not being backed while every other club flashes the cash.

Biggest concern is what it says to Poch

So only Mitchell is leaving and not McDermott. No concern for me as he wasted money and time on Njie...

I wonder how is Poch taking it or it doesn't matter bec he will now get the player he wants. I presume GKN deal is off is partly related to PM leaving. No body wants to take the blame for a potential failed signing.

Anyway I think Poch should have some influence for the next appointment and hopefully someone he can trust.

But wasn't Mitchell his call/choice?

What's this got to do with club PR? I'm all for verified ITKs but debating a randoms person's clearly wummy comments from a forum where he is not even considered ITK is a step too far to me.

I don't disagree with your statement just your hypocrisy. You are gullible. Your sole line of debate is our decision makers are all better placed than the fans to do their jobs so, er, there is no debate.

And he has served his notice period. No wonder info has been on lockdown.

It will be interesting to hear how this pans out. The recent transfer delays have been telling. I wonder if it is greener grass, a hot Spurs Kitchen or he just got Levyed when he tried to close the deals.

Why would Mitchell be trying to close deals?

DP is an absolute sea of footballing knowledge, and a very important part of what we do transfer wise.

Paint it however you want, Mitchel and co. leaving being announced mid TW is not a positive thing.

It's hardly a negative though is it, our window last summer didn't fall apart because Baldini announced his departure.

One of my concerns, though there could also be an upside, is that they both know the strength of the Spurs youth coming through.
Go to the right clubs and they might dangle carrots and some may be tempted.
Alternatively, they might help to present opportunities for players to go on loan.
